clearly you did not read post #5 as in that post the actual boxes that will work were listed , and anything not listed is unlikely to work, especially not a foxsat

please read the info, even if you dont understand it

not only that, your dish will be pointing at the wrong satellite so that will require realignment assuming it will even work, as I clearly stated in post #7

this is not a job for a newbie as you havent learned the basics , it can be done with research but not reading answers is hardly going to help you, sorry to say

ps:- even if you did this, it wont help you get the other channels like itv and ch4 when they move in a weeks time either

I understand what you are saying but I did read your message,I just didn't understand it.Maybe at my age I should not belong to this group,it would appear I need to find a group suitable for my age.

i can never understand what the big issue is with getting uk tv in spain with the good weather why would you want to be sitting indoors watching bbc/itv/c4 i have a dish aimed at 7w where you can get english speaking films and english speaking news channels and if you want to part with a couple of hundred euros buy a card for benin sports and you have all the epl, or you could learn Spanish and watch their local tv

age is not relevant, technical ability or the ability to learn is relevant and if you get up to speed on this complicated hobby it would help , whereas you are like somebody who has only been a passenger in a car for 50 years suddenly deciding he wants to enter the paris to dakar rally but doesnt know how to change gear never mind steer

the point is this hobby needs a lot of research and understanding , whether you are 16 or 76 makes no difference , so all you need to do is understand what you are being told, dont jump in the deep end just because you want to enter the swimming contests in the olympics but havent learned the doggy paddle yet

have a read of this I wrote some time ago http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...-setup-301108/

as for IPTV , its TV delivered to your IP address (hence IPTV) , which is the internet address given to you by your ISP
so its streaming TV over the internet , one you may have heard of being IPLAYER, another being itvPlayer or 4OD or skygo

the matricom MX2 is another streaming IPTV option black box (there are loads of iptv options around) , but these will all depend on the ability of your internet connection as that is how they are delivered to you, so can suffer failure or glitching, or you get locked out due to not having a uk IP address (geolocking)

the internet speeds in spain are poor in comparison to this country but you can get 6mps speed which should be enough for iptv

they work first class on a asdl phone line in the uk
on speeds of just under 4 meg. if your broadband can
get this, there is nothing easier than these to set up etc:
and they are on sale on the bay for ?75/80.

i was lead to believe ping times were more important than broadband speeds.
this is with sat ,not sure if same applies to iptv

i would have thought from reading this thread the members had and were very friendly and helpful, you have been given advise and options to keep you viewing, but it's up to you which receiver or iptv box etc: you want to get and use, to keep viewing the channels, everyone has there own view and budget, now the choice is yours

I apologise if you feel that some of the comments/posts regarding trying to help in your situation where as you say judgemental they may appear to be that way but most including myself would not want to see our Ex-Pat population get what i would called shafted by the influx of so called Costa del Cowboys.

I myself could fill my van with 5402's and dishes etc.. take the Ferry and drive through to spain installing in every location possible to make a fast buck so to speak. and still return home after making a huge profit this is something i would not like to see but in all eventuality this is going to happen to most of the population as they either dont or cant use the internet to find information so will pay the current going rip off rate to get there channels back.

your best hope at the moment is to swing your dish round to 27.5? west and purchase something like a TM5402HD or equivalent receiver that will let you view the BBC's on this satellite.

If you give us a rough location for yourself then we can try and help you with Dish size and any relevant information to get these channels back including help in patching the receiver.

                          Regards

i dont know about southern spain but in the alicante area there are company's who through like a frew view ariel will give you british freesat for about 23 euros /month where they give you a box and set it up for you maybe thats what the peep needs but then it would not be freesat then

Problem is that although there are companies delivering British 'freeview' around areas of Spain its illegal and the Guardia bust them. Then the punters are left with nothing.

One of the nice things about Spanish DTV is that they run films and American series with a choice of language so you can have the original or badly dubbed Spanish. Even TVE does it.

Although it takes around 5mins to patch a suitable receiver to receive the channels mentioned, the key can, and does, change at any time and the service is not a broadcast, its a feed so it may become unavailable at any time. The cowboys are out in force selling it and IPTV boxes which rely on streaming services which could vanish faster than a BISS key. Most of the punters haven't a clue about the technical aspects, and just want to watch Eastenders. They will be robbed and end up with a blank screen sooner or later.

What the BBC do offer is the BBC Entertainment channel, where you can watch the soaps for an official subscription of ?85 per year with an 80cm dish on Eutelsat 9a at 9 east which also carries BBC World news FTA

As a matter of interest if you realigned your dish to Eutelsat 9a at 9 east are there many other channels in English you could watch? If so are they encrypted or free to air? If they are not free to air is it possible to unscramble them? I think people living in Spain would probably like more than just the 2 English channels. Also I presume all the non ITV, BBC, Channel 4 & 5 will still be locatable on a Freeesat box. eg Pop channels, True movies, horror channel, etc. Has the BBC news channel moved or is that still watchable on a Freesat box?
