As anticipated the BBC changed the BISS key yesterday afternoon so anyone who pointed their dish at 27w and was getting the package
now has a blank screen and the key is not on the Internet yet. So those without at least 2mbs of internet to support streaming are out of luck.

It will be interesting to see how long it is before the new key hits the internet and the cowboys offer to 'upgrade' their clients. My guess would be around 1-2 weeks.

Can't understand what is wrong with ex-pats wanting to watch TV from their own country. At least part of many evenings is going to be spent watching TV...

Its actually an EU requirement that nationals living in another country can receive some television from their home state, however in the case of the UK this is covered by the wide availability of BBC World (FTA) and BBC Entertainment which is a subscription channel available from the BBC for 85 quid a year. It includes soaps like Casualty and Eastenders and the channel even does live broadcasts of important UK events. It can be received in the South of Spain with a 80cm dish from Eurobird 9. Google for their website. Another little known fact is that you can subscribe to BBC iplayer if you live outside the UK. Then you can watch the beeb online - internet willing - without having to go through any dodgy intermediaries.

I have looked at the BBC Entertainment website in the past but can't really be bothered to sign up to something so limited. No news & no Match of the Day etc. No radio either. Likewise BBC World is not much of a replacement... iPlayer/ITVplayer etc no problem, we have a UK IP address

I've subscribed for around eight years, despite having BBC1..4 and its actually not bad value for money. As I don't need a licence its also a way of paying for the other programming. No news, but BBC World has that. Zero sport (Horray!) Radio is now only on the Internet or 27. But that channel only needs a small dish - I'm using a cheepie from Lidl. The beeb take credit cards over the phone and are helpful and much easier to deal with than sly or C plus. Mind you at one time I had Worldspace just to get BBC World service radio in decent quality

If they are not free to air is it possible to unscramble them? I think people living in Spain would probably like more than just the 2 English channels. Also I presume all the non ITV, BBC, Channel 4 & 5 will still be locatable on a Freeesat box. eg Pop channels, True movies, horror channel, etc. Has the BBC news channel moved or is that still watchable on a Freesat box?
Just wondered if anyone had any answers to the above ?

I have been told that an Openbox X5 will work with 27.5W, can anyone confirm this. As I have an Openbox V5S can anyone confirm if this will work? I cannot check as I am in UK at the mo.

I am aware of that but as I am in UK at the mo and my dish is in Portugal it makes it a bit difficult. If someone can confirm that either (a)the X5 works then I can buy one and take it out or (b) more hopefully the V5S works as I have a spare then I can take that out.
