you may get a lock on 7w channels when doing a scan may pick them up but waching them is a different thing
some channels/packages on 7w are not all showtime so you will still get a lock on that sat when scaning

i can guarantee that you wont be able to receive the horizontal transponders from nilesat on a 90cm dish, and all the channels that show the footy are on horizontal transponders.

have you got USALS working yet or diseqc??

if diseqc how do you know your on nilesat as the signal level will go up when on other satellites

I find that most people who get signal on 7west dont realise that its actually 8west they have found..
This is No lie but my uncle in london has a 80cm Technomate dish and on the best of days he receives one or two verticals on showtime with b 0.3db lnb but picture is stutery..he was thinkin of a 1.8m dish as he is definite that he will pick it up but has decided against it because all the matches from the top 4 are broadcasted on showsports1,2,3,4 which are ALL on horizontal transponders So im the winter he thought the dish would be useless..

My USALS isnt working. i have been manually scanning satellites and storing them as i go. So far i havent gone off mark as the channels coming from each satellite are for that satellite.

Problem might come between 4.8E and 4.0E as these 2 are so close together

Ater the recent Orbit and Showtime merger the talk is that Showtime could be on the move or share broadcasting between 7W & 26E at the moment Showtime is compleatly FTA on 8W which is some indication that something might happen ! if this is the case it might not be needed to have such a big dish to receive Showtime

Orbit ar likely to broadcast Showtime on there other satellites to reach more subscribers across more countrys ! of course this does not mean to say that any encryption changes will be made or become apart of another subscription packet.

But anyway it might be a little good news for people intrested but not wishing to buy a big dish for there garden or living on the sixth floor Nelson Mandela House

If showtime moved to 26e i would definitly buy a 1.2m dish and have it fixed at 26e..my 90cm only ever managed to pick up 3 transponders of badr before!

Hi guys.....well i finally went out and got a big dish,a 1.8m digistar from maplins, and bought a invacom lnb and feedhorn...
the dish looks cool and sits almost flush to my garden fence...
putting it together is a pain with having to re-drill holes to get
all the petals flush, and it feels real flimsy.....then theres the setting up of the focal point which took ages to get right....
...results.....Well can i get nilesat?....yes i can but only the
verticals..all of them 24/7 the signal drops off a little in the
daytime, but not much....also in light rain and cloud its holding up...on my tm5400 its showing 90% signal strength and 61% signal quality...but not a sniff of a horizontal any time of day..
For a dish of this size its clearly under performing and actually
performing more like a 1.3-1.4 size dish....so my advice to anyone thinking of getting a big dish is dont get this one they are poor, and will only give you limited success on nilesat...

                                regards..terriers
