So im just trying to get my head around when you would likely need more than a twin tuner as i was looking at the inverto premium quad lnb and it states that It enables the reception of signal from one satellite and its distribution to up-to two single tuner Set-top box (or 1 in the case of a twin-tuner STB) im seriously getting confused
Buy a cheap Skybox for the other room or a Dreambox 800hd which you can by for 100 quid from China. That will make good second cheaper box.

OK i think i may have been looking into this multiple tuner thing a little too much, am i right in thinking the main purpose is to enable multiple recordings at once???

Single tuner you can record but only the channel your watching or if your out and its on timer. Twin tuner you can watch one channel and record another etc

yes thanks Andy! whilst reading so many things earlier i thought i saw a drawing of an installation which had 2 tv's and it was saying that tv2 could view sd only but through the main receiver whilst still in use by tv1 watching a different channel in hd! It also said that tv2 could set recordings and view them too???? Must be a different receiver i saw it on?

All depends on how much you want to record. Ive a Dreambox with a sata drive and I never use it. Would never catch up what I record so use the hard drive for mainly the epg. You don't need to spend a fortune or have a massive dish for your needs. Get an Enigma 2 Linux based box and if you feel the need to spend more then do so but at the beginning tread carefully as you will probably chop and change your mind.

the vu boxes cannot distribute tv signals using the coaxial method that a slybox plus does, so any remote viewing is by a pc or laptop or tablet or phone , not a tv

any such coaxial distribution is done using an rf modulator , not a magic eye, the magic eyes are used to control sly boxes over the coaxial cable , so are to transfer infra red signals to the sly box over the coax , not to send tv signals by ****ogue coax methods , so yes you are confused by all this

multiroom is what you are talking about , so thats a quad lnb on the dish and one or more coaxial sat feeds to the various rooms , say a twin feed to the living room box and single feeds to other boxes in the bedrooms for example (which is how sly multiroom works)

so if you wish to use tv,s in more than one room you are advised to have more thna one box , so one box per room

if using a pc or android device you can view the solo 2 , duo 2 or duo from another room , or on a pc using the webif

so complicated ? - yes , but that is the nature of this hobby

the twin tuners are more suited to recording 2 channels or more at the same time , or watching one whilst recording another , like sly plus
but they can also be used to watch one channel on the main tv and a different channel (or same channel) on a tablet or laptop

You have a good clear view from east to west there so should be able to pick up quite a range of sats
