first take a look at post 15 in this thread if you need
info on setting a motorised dish system up. as for sky ittalia
if your going for a official subscription just expect a large cost
for there card, i also live in the north west of the uk, and have a
1.2mtr dish and a hd receiver on a motorised dish, i wouls not recommend
a fixed dish system it will limit your choice of whats available. you can with a cam or a patched receiver get lots of sport free on thor 1w from digi-tv
but there is no gaurantee how long we can keep it open, there are many
receivers so it's a matter of reading asking then you will get the box thats best for your needs if you are new to sat tv then the technomate is one of the easiest to program patch add keys etc plus it has lots of users and support if you need help with it

Hi m8...any 90cm dish will be fine irrespective of the make..and my disecq motor is a fortec star which has served me well for a couple of years now....you can buy a motorised kit off forum sponsors wizard satellite....good footie sats are 30w,19.2e,13e,and 1w....
as for the receiver if you are wanting to say get a sub for sky italia the octagon sf318 is a good option,it has a multicrypt card reader and will read nds cards no problem without the need for a cam...its also quite cheap...

your other options are the dreambox,,and ip box for unofficial viewing...

Great news, I am a bit concerned about plumping a larger dish on my house. Will have to remove the SkyHD set-up in any case if i'm to install a new dish? Wouldn't I?

Thanks a lot for the satellite information, I'll research them a bit more and get the footprints etc. Is the 19.2E for Sky Deutschland per chance?

Hmm, very interesting. Do you recommend a brand then? I've read quite a bit about the 85cm Penta dishes?

for me i would go for a larger dish and you can fit
a 1 mtr dish without planning permission, unless you are
in a conservation erea or a listed building. plus you can fit two
dishes on your house as long as the second dish does'nt exceed
60cm in size, with a 1mtr dish you wont suffer any signal loss on any
satellite in bad weather and i will allow you to view more satellites than
a 60cm, as i said in this hobby try not to limit your choices

i would agree with benny and go for a larger dish than 60cm, if you have a 60cm on thor 1w you will loose signal and have weak transponders in bad weather....personally i'd go for a 1.1m motorised dish....you can officially put up a 1m without planning permission but you can get away with a 1.1m as the dish isnt exactly round and you can also leave your sky dish up as benny said as you are allowed 2 dishes on your house

Cheers, would an 85cm Penta do the job? Apparantly as good as a 100cm round dish?

Ok if i'm to opt for the 1m, would you recommend a suitable dish?

personally i'd go for this m8 1.1 MTR TRIAX MOTORISED SYSTEM - ?129.00 : Wizard Satellite, Satellite receivers, dishes, lnbs and equipment then all you have to decide is what receiver to go for

if your after Sky Italia you will need a linux receiver as no other receiver can handle the NDS encryption.. You will also require a cardshare which requires near expert IT skills to set up.. Cardsharing is not an open topic here but i can say you will need a good knowledge of linux code and how to input it..

Cheers, i'll be getting the DB 500S. Think i've sourced a card share already, will give it a bit more thought though. So SKY Italia has a reputation for being harder to push than the others? I didn't know this...

sly italia as sly uk use ND$ encryption which is a very very tough encryption and changes the keys every few seconds...however the hardest part is finding a good share as a lot are over subscribed and freeze more times than an eskimo takin a pi$$ in the north pole
