USB is ok so ran hdd test came up with cannot complete test error and a load of sector numbers which seemed to be in random places all over the drive.

so ran reformat repair then re-run test all errors gone so hopefully may be ok now.

recorded a film last night and all seemed fine so fingers crossed. will keep thread updated.

      Glad you got it sorted.
It may just have been a connection problem so it might be worth while having a look at the cable & socket connecting the hard drive.
Keep an eye on it & at the first sign of any more trouble substitute the cable as well as the hard drive.
      Good luck.

it may be the hard drive as bought the unit complete and I suspect they put the cheapest hdd in for prophet as there are no labels and forgot to look when I repaired it as it tells you what drive it is too busy putting it right but not going to speak too soon as it went ok for a few days then started all over again.

waiting until the missus starts recording three at once to see the outcome.
        thanks for all your input.

I dont think it is your Hard Drive its a problem with the Gigablue Drivers, their have been a lot of them glitching and rebooting when Recording, vix team have been trying to get Gigablue to fix the problem for ages

Sods law nsw9154 was spot on there is a problem with the vix drivers many people are having problems just tried updating my image and my box wont accept a flash old or new image at present. also if I put a usb in it corrupts the drive same as was done with my hard drive. my image is vix Apollo 30 just to keep everyone updated.

have used several usb sticks fat32 all have damaged drives now and have had to recover them.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try updating to Apollo 37 but do a clean install without any back ups as they had to update the Kernal and old versions of Apollo before (I think 30) are not compatable with the new drivers

EPG is held in live memory while Enigma is running, it is only ever saved to the storage device or read from it during bootup and shutdown or during the actual EPG download. so using a Internal HDD for the EPG is the preferred storage medium and wont cause any issues. Picons are by far best placed on the Internal flash for which the Quad has more than enough.

Swap file on a Quad ?, are you mad ?. The Quad has more than sufficient grunt to never need a swap file, in fact using one on such a high spec machine will have the total polar opposite of your desired outcome and hinder performance rather than improving it.

It is running at 54?c. It doesn't seem to have any adverse affect on how it performs but cannot be doing the components/solder any good. I'm also not sure how accurate the open atv readings are.
Ignore the temperature readings, they are inaccurate and have been removed from the bootloader now by the manufacturer any way.

So it should be, it's based directly on the ViX E2, far more closely than ViX it self is now related to Pli.

Sorry I dont want to be pedantic but there are no such things as ViX drivers, Drivers and bootloaders are all provided by the manufacturers, no Image team has any control over what goes int them or how they interact with the image. we simply report our findings back to the manufacturers and wait for them to fix their cockup again.

Not dissing vix rd as I said earlier I still use it on another machine. The comments for file swap and the likes were a generalisation of how most people have there machines set up. Have images now been changed so that picon stored in flash will display on quad little monitor thingy cause in earlier images they had to be stored in media/usb

Ok managed to flash new image vix 37 for whatever reason vix 30 had been writing to my hdd and usb stick and corrupted them used a new one and it damaged that one so basically I was trying to flash to box with damaged sectors, had to remove hdd and usb sticks do low level formats on them to repair and recover sectors after tested all drives copy new image to box which flashed to my relief.
then re- fitted hdd drive all is ok now apparently many people are having similar problems with the vix 30 image onwards on gigablue quads.

Tme for an image change I think. I will give it a week.

To be honest I have never used picons on the LCD of my quad as it takes up way to much processing power for what I consider a pretty naff gimmick.

This is down to a Driver and Bootloader fault by the manufacturer, they have acknowledged this (finally) and are looking into a solution, It affects ALL images, not just ViX, but because ViX is the most commonly used image on these receivers it has been noticed more.
