Fine Tweeking my Knowledge of Motorised Set up

    Hi Guys

Am about to set up My motorised set up after moving house.
Ive done it twice before but any fresh input always welcome, i will ensure my TK brackets & Pole are level using a spirit level,Also back of dish bracket is in line with the centre of the pole & motor. I wish adjust the Lattitude bracket on side of the Motor to 53.2740 and adjust the elevaqtion on the dish to about 29.0 deg

My Co-ordinates are as follows : Am using a technomate TM1500 to drive the motor using Disceq 1.2 starting at 1 West then am going to move the dish by the box and store each sat in turn

    Location
    Latitude: 53.2740?
    Longitude: -2.9111?

    Dish
    Elevation:29.1?
    Azimuth: 177.4?
    LNB skew: -1.6?

why are you using DIS 1.2?? set the dish up using USALS on 1 west and once you have fine tuned it all other birds should fall into place. if set on usals you can use diseqc 1.2/usals but if set on diseqc 1.2 you cant. regards mdt

must admit the usals menu on the technomate is confusing my co ordinates are

LATITUDE 53.2740 ( I SET THE MOTOR TO 53.3 ON THE LATITUDE SCALE ON THE SIDE OF MOTOR)

LONGITUDE IS - 2.9111 (WHERE DOES THIS GO ??)

IVE SET THE DISH BRACKET TO 29.1 ELEVATION ( IS THIS CORRECT)

IVE GOT THE MOTOR & DISH ALL SET UP READY TO GO

yes set the motor scale to 53.3 and lock up it wont need moving again.
now in the usals menu of the box put latitude 53.3N (this will not need changing)and the longitude put 2.9 West(you can fine tune this later) now send the dish to 1W if this is your target sat making sure you have an active TP set 10.778 H 24500 is a good one with BBC world on it. the dish bracket setting must be found by trial and error.
so point the whole assembly roughly where the sat should be then sweep L/R to see if you pick a signal up if not lower the dish bracket elevation by 1.0 degrees and try again keep doing this til you are successful if not go higher.once you have max signal check the L/R movement for max quality signal and lock up and then the dish elevation up/down for max quality and lock up.
then in the usals section of the box adjust the longitude by 0.2 degrees at a time E/W til absolute max quality is obtained. the check all your other sats.if correctly setup they will all fall into place automatically

That'll work. The dish bracket elevation figure will depend on what type of motor you have (edit) and on your latitude

Thanks Guys had a go today thou still not getting the Arc but will try again tomorrow, I still wonder why my longtitude is minus figure of -2.911 i cant put this in the Usals menu can only put in 2.91.
Ive resett the motor by to Zero (its a TM-2300).
I havent judged How High the motor should be on the Pole.
i am trying to find 1WEST manually by hand while the motor is still at Zero setting( is this correct)

Many Thanks again for your help

No the '0' setting is your due south location and is not a satellite reference point, you are correct with your longitude figure you just put in 2.9 on the TM the USALS are normally represented by the following 000.0 so your lat would be 053.3 and your Lon would be 002.9.

Move the motor to 0.8? west should move the motor just off centre to your east as you have a minus setting. Then tweak the whole Motor and dish assembly to fine tune

Your USALS settings should be 002.9 W / 053.3 N (minus lat means west) . You should send the motor to 1W using the receiver.Your dish elevation starting figure should come from the motor installation manual but if you haven't moved far it will be the same as bfore. You then move the bracket on the pole horizontally and the dish elevation to get a signal.

                  hi,
the motor is not power up at the moment am bypass that to find the sat by using a inline sat bleeper with a needle type
am not asking the usals to do anything at the moment but to try and find 1 west using a 1 metre dish is proving to be hard

The compass reading for 1W from your location should be 180 ie south.I take it you know the dish elevation should be different from when it was on the motor. You also need a valid transponder selected that your size dish can pick up.

Thanks for that been checking all that as you say i also have to check how high the dish has to be
as my elevation should be about 29 deg, if the dish elevation is beyond 30 deg the dish is too low
