what size dish

    what size dish

    can any body tell me what size dish is needed for thor 1w in the manchester area ?
    if fitted a 80cm for a pal today and i can get astra 19.2 28.2 hotbird and lots more but for some reason the dish will not pick up thor not even a little bit
    ive got a horizan sat metre all signals are ok for most thinks
    so is it the size of dish
    by the way he supplied is own dish i would have sold him a 90cm

    the install might be ever so slighly out, send the motor to 1west and fiddle with the elevation without loosening the bolts....

        Ideally a 1m dish for a good signal but you should still get something on an 80cm Atlantic Ocean - LyngSat Maps

            you should get some of the stronger tp's like bbc world news etc:
            with a 80cm dish but to get all tp's in all weather conditions
            i would use a 1mtr dish i'm about 7 miles south of you i use a 1.2mtr dish

              i can get it at home no problem with a 90cm dish,
              but im using a tm500 and when i try to save the lon ang lat it wont save ,also when i drive the dish to zero it ends up at 10 degree east

                  Hi m8 im in north west,meter dish will do,but in rain you might lose signel if bad.Best bet if you can go this,is a 1.2 meter dish.With this size you do good on satellite feeds as well

                    1.2m for 1west!! your having a laugh....
                    90cm plenty big enough if set up properly with a good low threshold lnb....also 16e fine too...

                      No ofence m8 been around long enough to know footprints.Iv a wave dish thats a meter in north west,its just enough for 1 west digi tv.I was chatting on rain & fade out,you can lose the signel.With a 1.2 dish you wont.Now im having a laugh @ you on rain.

                        your dish is set up wrong m8...only just getting it on 1m...
                        i presume by that you fitted it yourself....
                        90cm fine even with rain fade...get back up them ladders m8 and finish the job off....

                          Only been messing with satellite 20 years m8.My dish is fine & iv more than one dish.If ladders are needed sort your own out,mine are fine thanks.Reckon you read lyngsat by footprint,there reports are from good wether only,now dont be a turkey,as i will wipe the floor with you on this.

                            i talk from experience..i,m not going any further with you on this
                            if you are only just getting it were you are on 1m,its installed incorrect!! period

                            I used to work in the north west 2-3 days a week and have installed hundreds
                            of dishes in your area and thor comes in loud and proud on a correctly installed
                            90cm dish...

                              That depends what part your in,im a bit more north than most.Ok if your on winter hill your get more signel but if sea level your get less.To be honest i dont care what youve installed,i know mine are bang on for signel.After 20 years from alog days i know my signels.I use a satlook meter,by the way thats better than what you have in other thread .
