    installing motorised system

    hello to all

just install an 80cm motorised system with diseqc, the installation bit is easy but now having problem aligning the dish. i have manage to aling 1 degree west ( thor and the signal is very good. now setted up the diseqc by entering the lat and long. but when i go to astra 28.2 they receiver does not lock on the sta and therefore there is no signal. if i try hotbird 13degree east and astra 19.2degree east i get the same problem. can anyone please advise me where i am going wrong.

    thanking you

I think you mean you are using USALS, If 1 west locks but others dont it will mean that the pole is not straight 100% or that the LNB needs skewing / turning.
@ icaicm, you can call when you need to, just when im not in school

yeah, check the pole on all sides with a good level and take it from there.

Usals wont work on receiver if set up on diseq first. Should have usals entered first, then send dish to 1 west. manually adjust to get a good signal on bbc world. Tighten off motor/dish. Then try usals agin. As stated if pole not 100% plumb the usals will not work correctlya s it wont follow the arc correct.

I was asked by a mate to check his which had the same problem and it was just the elevation pn the dish that was not right. Make sure you are using a sat meter! For about ?9.00 it's the best investment you will make.....

            TOBS!

I couldnt get Usals to work on my 500s for love nor money.
Pole was 100% plumb, all info was correct ,coordinates correct ,it just didnt work.
Ended up using Diseqc and it was perfect.

i used one of them and found it crap, you have the best sat meter going in your reciever, and you know what sat your on with that.

I've a similar hiccup with my new 1mtr motorised set-up , i'm new to sats so please bear with me . It's a DM500s with an Alsat darkmotor mounted on a perfectly level 1.5mt heavy steel scaffold pole , held by 2 beefy "K" brackets.
I;ve used Krazylegs superb tutorial from DK to set it up .
The recievers signal finder shows SNR 65-70% and AGC 85-90%.
But a transponder scan gives no signal lock possible and to check antenna / cable set up . Am i getting warm ?
Any pointers or advice would be appreciated .

I dont know the Dm500 but the TM500 has a sat finder menu where you can enter a sat on one line and active transponder on another line then move the whole dish assembly L/R and the dish only up/down till its locked.best to use 1West set on BBC world 11.325H 24500 for this snr should be around the 90s agc 80s ber 0. leave scanning till you have found your 1st sat.

have you loaded a channel list to your box first?. i fitted mine recently 1m dish, darkmotor, d500 it was up working for 2 weeks and had a problem with the motor sorted that now its fine, get 96% on 1w bbc world and tracks the sats perfect. make sure the dish is central on the motor, pole 100% plumb, f connectors made off properly, and when you get a decent signal and a lock on 1w bbc world go into the sat settings on the dreambox and get satfind on the screen its the best sat meter going. get te best signal you can by moving the motor left right slightly (while on bbc world) when you cant get any better tighten it then ajust the eleavation on the dish (not the motor) to get the signal best you can. i gained around 10% signal by ajusting the elavation. dont worry your not far away, and we are here to help.

Thanks again for your help , but i'm afraid it's been another fruitless afternoon in my little sat world!
All "F" connectors are 100% (having cable recievers i'm use to doing these) , mast 100% plumb , all the cable i've used is top quality and both motor bracket and dish bracket look good and square on to the pole .
On the satfind page of my DM500 , i've selected Thor(0.9W) , as i can't find the BBC world sat in my menu.
I've just spent 3hrs tinkering with the dish position , elevation and arm holding the LNB , AGC now 90% but no matter what i try , the SNR appears stuck at 63% , no variation , just stuck on 63% , the only way i can get it to alter , is to disconect the coax !
So i've given it my best shot for today Lads , i'm off in for my tea and a warm !
                        It can't be said i haven't given it a good go !

90cm motortised dish, dm500 & 600....the sky is NOT the limit!!!!! the best things in life are FREE!

use dishpointer.com, select the sat your aiming for and see where the line points, aim the dish that way, worked for me. set the elevation on the motor and leave it, it doesent need ajusted again, ajust the elevation via the dish bracket. as for bbc world news its on 1w press ok and then all servises via the red button and the channel list will come up scroll down to bbc world, there will be a few but get the one on 1w. sometimes the sat meter on the image doesent work as good until you get a picture. so find bbc world then when you have a picture use the sat meter on the image and fine tune the dish to get the best signal.

Thanks for that again Mate , i've just been on dishpointer.com and the direction line at 1w looks identical to the direction i have it pointing now ? . Two other bits of info on this site in the dish set-up data show , elevation 29 degrees and LNB skew -1.3 degree , but i don't know what this means in relation to my present 53.4 degree latitude setting on my dish , as per Krazylegs tutorial ? , maybe i'm just running before i can walk !
