thanks guys you all been so helpful - one final thing though - ive filled out the sky deal but a littel confused about the phone line and broadband thing.
i have VM phone and broadband - im happy with that and dont want to move this to sky. But i was just talking to sky and they said i have to put my phone number in so that they can send updates to the sky box via the pohone line - so presumably the sky hd box will have to have a phone connection line or something !! i dont want them running wires everywhere etc or more importantly messing up my phone and broadband !! can someone explain this please or should i just say i dont have a phone?! sorry guys i know i sound really thick but i have no idea about sky / satallite

if you put your number in it will most probably say you need a bt phone line and you can either pay a one off payment of ?39 or tick the box that says i have a phone line or will have one by the time they install it (cant remember what it actually says)
any way dont pay the ?39 just tick the box because they can use your existing vm phone line to activate it or the installer will activate himself

its a bit of a scam by them that bit as you dont need the box connected to the phone line
when he has gone just unplug the phone line from it

ps stop ringing them up ffs especially mentioning codes ever heared of the saying loose lips

Like I said before they know about cable customers jumpin ship so they let the phone slip- you get the message on the website when you put your number in, "looks like a cable phone line, not to worry we still can install and you can change your phone at a later date". Think i will read the small print.

act quick guys the last lot of codes didn't last long before sky blocked them

it will work but check after ur install they dont try and charge you full price for espn they tried it with me

take screen shots and print your order so they cant say anything

they still havnt sorted my half price espn they credited my account for 10? and said they sort it as quick as they can
dont let they catch u out on that

Yep thanks guys - hopefully i havent stressed you all too much (fergal i only called them once to make sure the code was active cus i couldnt get onto the offer page - other than that i was chatting to some dude on the chat screen on their website - so hopefully i havent raised any alarm bells !!)
well my orders through and all being well i'll be making the switch to sky hs tv -and losing virgin !! a sad chapter indeed !!
i was gonna make a joke about losing my Virgin(ity) and moving to sky but its getting past my bedtime now :-)

You will be fine they will use your existing phone line.

This looks fab, I am in nottingham and was just looking at offers for Sky, currently on vermin with my digivox and was getting a bit twitchy about N3.
I know people have asked in this thread but does this package include broadband and phone ... I would like to get rid of the vermin altogether

i would expect anyone phoning them up as new customer can get same deal if mentioned in call, saying others are getting for x ammount, they cant afford to be choosey nowadays and need all custom
