i posted on here this week about a dreambox 7020si i bought that came faulty and did not work from the off (and something rattled inside it) to try and get a bit of help to fix it . it cant be fixed . i have tried and failed to get a reply from dvb monkey , their support line is never online , they say leave a message or email them , if you get a reply (if your lucky ) they say please dont contact us again as we are not technical . they send you an update ticket (as if they will get to you in time )they never will. forget about the 18 month guarantee ,and dont waste your time and more importantly your money sending the box back you will never see it again. if you can avoid buying in china you should ,pay a little extra and buy from some one more local and use paypal if you can . if you buy local you have a good guarantee and payal can get you your money back . i was going to post this in satellite dreambox section but i thought more people would see it here and so it would help more people . mods if you think it should be in the satellite dreambox section please feel free to move it. i hope this helps people .

Have also have a couple of friends with similar problems with DvbMoney...
The got faulty boxes, couldn't get in contact with them af the payment was done.... And now they have some useless boxes laying in their basement..... So my personal advice, DON'T SHOP AT DVBMONKEYS! -
might be idea for people (who have had simillar problems) with this company or other companies to post the company name here on this thread and compile a list of companies not to buy from . and then people will know who to avoid , and also maybe compile a small list of trusted companies (if it is ok with the forum mods and within forum rules ) that people should buy from . this would help a lot of people. after all if people dont buy from them they go out of business (i hope ) if any one can reccomend a trusted site for me it would be great .safe shopping guys .i love it when a dreambox comes together.

wont be many boxes left to work, did you pay by credit card,if you did you may be able to do a charge back,i bought a new part for a car 12 months warranty, broke down after 2 months, lost the invoice but sent them a copy of payment details, sent part back registered post which they received.i was told to send all details to my credit card company so they could get a charge back.Comment

hi cacti mate i only have a maestro debit card ,i dont know if the same rules apply to them as with credit cards .as i say its my own fault for trusting them but if i can stop people buying from them and and get them buying from a trusted supplier then it must be a good thing.i love it when a dreambox comes together.

my advice to anyone regarding things like dreamboxes, is not to buy from outside the EU at all. just a thing i have about having no idea whos who or where they are. preferably buy from the uk and even better your home city. i really dont see the point buying a dm500 for like ?40 when for ?20 more you can pick one up. and you know who and where the seller is and can get back there if you have no joy over the fone or via email. i know not everyone is as lucky as me to be able to drive 5 mins to get my clone but it just makes no sense buying from china or such places.
i have an associate that deals in clones and comes to me for advice. the boxes he gets are utter rubbish. in his workshop he has about 10 broken dm500 clones. and a few dm800 clones. its a joke. no point what so ever. as the hassles they bring dont equate to any initial savings.
sorry. just my 50p worthComment

Agreed, but dealers in the UK are too damn greedy and expensive. They all wanna be millionaires over night.my advice to anyone regarding things like dreamboxes, is not to buy from outside the EU at all. just a thing i have about having no idea whos who or where they are. preferably buy from the uk and even better your home city. i really dont see the point buying a dm500 for like ?40 when for ?20 more you can pick one up. and you know who and where the seller is and can get back there if you have no joy over the fone or via email. i know not everyone is as lucky as me to be able to drive 5 mins to get my clone but it just makes no sense buying from china or such places.

well im not sending the box back to that shower (be the last id see of it and my money) im gonna try and see if there is any way of fixing it. i had a look inside the box to see what was rattling and i found two wires with connections on them not connected to anything (i assume they are for connecting the hdd) so did they take out hdd before sending the box to me .or is it that you have to buy the hdd and put it in yourself. i thought i was getting a pvr unit and that it came with the hdd intalled in it. i was reading on the other thread about people sending their boxes back to dvb monkey only to find the addresses being given by dvbmonkey dont exist (thanks to manic for the link) is there no world wide trading laws that stop people like them ripping people off . when i payed for the box with my debit card the transaction was done through a company called money bookers .com (could i contact them about it )like you would with paypal , is it worth the bother .i love it when a dreambox comes together.

that is normal for there to be hdd connector hdd is exta.
the ratlle you here is probably a small copper winding on a plastic hub which if you look carefully you will see on the board another plastic base that this should be glued to and each end of the copper wire soldered tothe 2 points next to it you may have to reflash your box when this is done. this is fairly common and happens in shipping but it should be secured better.hope this is your problem and this helps.Comment

the rattle was two wires that i assume are for connecting up the hard disk drive ,good news tho after downloading half the internet i found a version of dreamup that works (so far anyway) been flashing now about 20 minutes ,10 minutes to go . so fingers crossed.i love it when a dreambox comes together.

But you knew you were buying a knock off clone box anyway. Although I may have some sympathy with your plight you don't mind Dream Multimedia losing out by you buying a knock off, but mind being ripped off yourself? Something around double standards in that reallyis there no world wide trading laws that stop people like them ripping people off . when i payed for the box with my debit card the transaction was done through a company called money bookers .com (could i contact them about it )like you would with paypal , is it worth the bother .
Did you expect such a fair deal from a company that are quite clearly ready to do such things? My master plan is to live forever..... going to plan so far
Despite the cost of living, it's still very popular.

i knew it was a clone of course and you are valid in what you say ,but i think dream mulimedia are ripping people off with their very high prices (all tho they make excellent recievers ) i would gladly purchase from them if they werent so expensive ,and so would a lot of others .but good news i got the box flashed and working ,it took half an hour but all is well. thanks to all who replied to me.i love it when a dreambox comes together.

i bought one dm800s here Shenzhen B.C.T Computer Co., Ltd. - Mobile phones, motherboards, graphic cards about 5 weeks ago for ?150 pound delievered, when arrived 3 days later the power supply was faulty,i had a spare one which i used, when i switched on the sound was like an airplane taking off
,the fan inside was catching the circuit board which i raised by jamming a bit of paper in
,i contected seller and told him about power supply and he kept telling me i should just buy new power supply but i told him he must send me one but he refused,so i think if my dm was broke or something id have no chance gettin it fixed by this company, they dont seem very helpful at all
