ITV HD as poor as Englands performance!!!

ITV HD viewers missed Englands only goal against USA as they went to a commercial break by mistake

Also after this I switched to SKY Sport Germany HD to watch the rest of the game, and noticed the huge difference in picture quality,
ITV HD the players and the crowd looked blurry, but crystal clear on SKY Sports Germany.

ITV seriously need to sort themselves out......

And as for ENGLAND thats for another thread

I thought it was fine too on SKY HD Box, until I put SKY Sports Germany on, then you could really see the difference!!!

Agree Simo ITV HD is not impressive.

If its 1080i then ~~~~ knows what they do with it as it aint as good as multiple other hd channels broadcasting in the same format.

Also no 5.1 AC3 sound on ITV, but the same english commentary as ITV on SKY DE in 5.1 AC3.

So if another channel can transmit in AC3 how come the original channels soundtrack cannot????

Again the British national channels think we won't notice the lack of quality, whilst the rest of Europe enjoys Full HD and Digital Sound.

Its all this downscaling on the Sky UK service, nothing is been show as its supposed to look ! Even Sky Movies HD look less Sharp than other providers across Europe, again its Sky pulling the wool over peoples eyes when it comes to HD.

Sky News is about the best quality in HD they provide, the rest of there HD content is pretty poor.

Shame they dont do a better job of increasing the quality of there HD channels instead they have gradually Toned-down detail on the SD channels to make HD look better... They are a bloody Joke....

Dont blame ITV for all of this 1 its still Sky that carry the channels upstream to the Satellite, after all every channel broadcasting the World Cup get the same feed from South Africia except for Studio feeds from the BBC/ITV and then rebroadcasted from Sky via Astra 2 into our homes.

I also watched the game on ITV, looked at it on 5 different sources, tv is full 1080p HD.

                      SD freeview (rediculously poor)

                      SD analog aerial (rediculously poor)

                      SD sky (rediculously poor)

                      Virgin HD (was great)

Freesat HD (was excellent, best of them all)

I think everyone is getting so used to HD nowdays that if we see anything on SD it seems unwatchable, thats how I feel anyway, my 2p's worth, .

Yeah SD is still ok, but Sky have gradually made the picture a little Darker and Grainer over the past year or two, When Sky Digital was first launched the picture was crystal clear and bright.

Today Sky Digital SD its darker (more Gray) and the picture is Grainer, this is to increase how better their HD service is compared to thier SD, They have altered to quality of SD mainly because Sky HD is only running @ 1080i leaving you the user to scale it up to 720p between the receiver and the TV if you so desire.

Freesat is supposed to be running their HD service @ 720p (A far sharper Picture), so If you are using your Sky receiver & Card make sure you use the Freesat ITV HD frequencies as there are 3-4 ITV HD channels only one is FTA the others are encrypted because the are on the Sky Service.

There is a differance on bigger LCD Plasma television sets

ITV HD on Freesat runs natively @ 720p
ITV HD encrypted by Sky runs natively @ 1080i

To find out which ITV HD you are using on your receiver take out the card, If the channel continues working it freesat if the screen changes (please insert viewing card) the you are using Sky ....

It wouldn't matter which version you were watching during the match as ITV clearly b0rked with their transmission...

As for the picture quality, after the aforementioned 'glitch' they chose to switch to their SD feed, hence why the HD (ahem) channel looked bad..

It did briefly return to HD, but that didn't last and the entire match (bar 5mins or so) was in SD..

(you may have also noticed the lack of an ITV HD D.O.G. which was a dead give away...)

As for claiming it wasn't the fault of ITV, well, actually it was as everyone else had an HD feed without a problem and the suite/gallery where they control the ads/studio output has nothing to do with the FIFA feed from the national broadcaster. (or whoever was hired to cover the match)

also i agree with alan that sky are reducing the bandwidth on their chnls...i fitted a hd box yesterday on a l,e,d tv and the argie match was unwatchable in sd..pics looking blury and lots of pixellation...but good in hd..

                              hd/footie

If the footy was in full hd at its best level possible,
would it have changed the result, think not.

From sly to all receiver producers and broadcasters etc.
inc the overpaid waste of time england team, there only interest is how to get as much out of your pocket as they can. from advertising etc etc.
