I also watched ITV hd and missed England's goal but what annoyed me about ITV's coverage was their football analysts who said England had a great performance and that Heskey had a good game.
I then switched to rte (irish national broadcaster) and their pundits (John Giles, Eamon Dunphy and Grahame Souness) told the truth and said England played badly, Heskey had a bad game and Lampard and Gerrard cannot play together because they are both very similar players and neither play in a position to link up the defence and midfield because they actually sit just behind the strikers meaning the defenders then have to kick long balls up to Rooney and Heskey which is continually giving the ball to the opponents.
If you have the opportunity you should look up this analysts on you tube or even better during a game because they are much better than the ITV BBC or Sky Sports analysts because they are not afraid to criticize anyone.

inc the overpaid waste of time england team, there only interest is how to get as much out of your pocket as they can. from advertising etc etc.
As yet nobody broadcasts in 1080p (full hd) at best you get 720p /1080i , so its not really the best quality possible. Which makes it more frustrating when they have glitches showing hd programs.

I switched over to sd on my tm600 and picture and sound were great. As for the result ... well it's England ffs did anybody expect any thing else.

Just checked the ITV HD listed under the Sky Guide compared to the one i added under 'Other Channels'.. The one listed as 10510 has far superior audio, couldnt check the picture quality as Colombo is on..

I dont think HD would do much for Colombo and his dirty old trench-coat

well the channel listed as 10510 has superior audio put the 'HD' is still pretty shite.. no way as clear as a Premier League match on Sky Sports HD... Looks like i need to trade in my D500S to a HD model and start viewing Sky IT and Sky DE seeing as ITV HD and BBC HD are pretty poor on the Sky Box

Hi All, just started on here:-) thinking of upgrading my Humax 5400 for a Spiderbox 5000, but not 100& sure yet!

As for ITV, I don't think picture qulaity is down to SKY, it's up to the broadcaster what they transmit in, and then ASTRA, although ITV do pay SKY for the EPG slot and encryption.

Also the 'glitch' was not of ITV's doings on saturday, but the Transmission centre in Chiswick, run by Technicolor, it seems ITV plc sold of the transmission centres a few years back.

As for the 'glitch' can you imagine how the technician feels after knowing the button or whatever hit hit, had such an effect! a min or so either side of that particular moment, no-one would have reallu noticed, BUT we are all human and we ALL make mistakes.

ITV get the same satellite signal as do every other Television company in Europe for the world Cup (Its the same Feed) ITV send out the Signal from broadcasting house via Transmitter for DVBT, Cable etc, They also send the singnal to SKY for uploading it to the Astra Satellite (Sky basically own/Rent Astra 2 Satellite ) and is opperated by BSkyB all Channles on the Sky Receiver go through Sky before Uploading to the satellite, Sky can and do Downscale Quality of picture to meet Transponder space.

Freesat channels are slightly better because the signal is not filtered or downscaled by Sky, Freesat run @ 720p, All channels are Downscaled and squezed onto the Sky receiver that run at @ 1080i or less .

not too sure if anybody knows but due to the earlier problem the ITV HD feed was replaced with the SD one - you can tell on Virgin as the HD channel has the words 'ITV HD' in the corner !!

Mmmm, could argue similar thing to what happened at Technicolor for ITV, but on a much reduced scale, it should not have happened... but did, out of the blue, nothing you could have done to stop it..

not the first time ITV or who ever have ~~~~ed up and missed a goal, remember the Liverpool v Everton FA Cup game when Everton scored and ITV missed the goal .. so either ITV employ muppets as engineers or somebody is taking the piss by pulling the plug or hitting a button to cease tranmission at a critical moment.
