Ok , Think I've narrowed it down to one of the above boxes
but as I'm new to sat I'm not sure which of the 2 packages is best

for me mate there is'nt much difference for channels on any
of the makes and models a lot is down to personnel choice
just remember the spiderbox gift is for one year only but the
others protek and uni box etc dont have a time limit on there gift
the idea of these boxes is to get users use to useing servers and
to get themselves on anouther server to get there chns

for server stability the protek wipes the floor with the spiderbox. regards mdt

the protek 9600ip/9700hd/9750hd cannot act as a client but the unix 500 sd can as it is based on a dm500s and runs on linux/e1 os.(gemini 4.7) regards mdt

I just bit the bullet and ordered a Spiderbox 7000hd , I got a dm600 just now and had major problems trying to get the goto feature to work , ended up just switching it off

hello mate,
be aware that some spiderboxes can also have issues on usals
mine does work but the motor is very hesitant.so I find the sats on usals then store that position in the command line then switched to diseqc 1.2 fine tuned in the drive step line then stored again in the same position.0.8W thor & 1W intelsat need to be given the same rotor position.
As MDT has said "gift"channel stability is also an issue but I can usually find a stable film to watch which is all I want.
