Quite ironic really when F1 wants to show the world the leading edge in technology and no HD!! Perhaps Bernies wrinkles show up too much!!
FOCA Television company providing not only in-car and helicopter footage but also an entire crew of cameramen around each circuit, then the Host Country makes available the Raw Stream & necessary footage to create the international TV feed to be beamed around the world.

Ecclestone became chief executive of FOCA in 1978 which has given him a firm hand on Commericial & Television rights ever since.

FOCA is for all for all intensive purposes is a Part of Ecclestone's Formula One Management and Formula One Administration.

Hi i was at silverstone this year for the f1, i got talking to one of the camera guys and did ask him this question about f1 hd ,
he did inform me that it is filmed in hd but due to so many broadcasters still broadcasting sd it is downscaled , foca might release to all soon.

      NEXT SEASON BBC HD !

Didn't Bernie start a digital channel about 10 or more years ago which was supposed to give the viewer several screen options etc. I think it was abandoned for some reason.

Thats right he went down the Pay Per View root, but got Kicked up the ass by SLEC Holdings who own F1, when advertising revenue and broadcasting rights were lost by many National Broadcaster to Satellite Broadcaster.

For instance RTE Irish broadcaster lost F1 coverage to Setanta Sports, this happend all across Europe & the USA , Due Mainly to certain Satellites covering more than one country like Astra 28e covering the UK & ROI.

A satellite Provider covers a larger Area than a National broacaset who normaly use Aerials and Trasmitters etc, Intead (for example) Irish Viewers now switch on the BBC for F1 or Subscribe to Setanta Sports, Before RTE had to pay For F1 now they dont have too.

This Happend in many Countries accross the globe, Ecclestone was lucky not to get the Chop as SLEC Holdings lost a lot of revenue with that move, but over the past few seasons have clawed back some of the lost National Providers providers due to the entertainment Value F1 has become.

Begs the question has F1 become more like WWE wrestling ?
