    Enigma 1 + 2 Tools / Addons / Tuts

Because this site helped me a lot, I want you to give something back.

This is my tutorial to back-up , restore and install your Enigma 2 USB stick on your PC.

I hope it helps some people struggling with E2.

As a beginner normally it's really hard, but this way it's quite easy, everyone can do it.
You just need a free USB port, the trialware Acronis True Image and a USB stick.

Attention: I don't take responsibility if something goes wrong, so back-up any important data before you install something on your stick, because everything will be lost.

Formatting is not for beginners, so think twice if you are not sure about what you are doing.

Please don't complain, threat or insult me about it, I tried to dumb it down as much as I could but there is always one possibility where everything that can go wrong will go wrong.

P.S.: I hope you find it useful.

This is just a tutorial for formating a USB stick in ext2 or ext3 for IPbox, the Instalation of E2 is missing.

    but 10/10 for the effort

Well actually, if you restore a back-up to your stick you are installing the E2 system on the stick.

That's what I meant and yes it works like the real thing.

The good thing is that you don't need a good notion of Linux or partitioning, you just need a back-up for your box.

        SatAngels-Key-Updater for IP-Box NLB-Image

Simple installation through the NLB-Plug-in Manager
(Please look at the Readme in the archive)
        Then you have the plug-in

With this plug-in you can make online keyupdates
You can choose between this ones:

        The rb-Keyfiles from redbull301
        The IP-Box-Keybundle from minicat

The keys are updated at the moment they are available and redbull301 and minicat are releasing them !

Many thanks to redbull301 for this plug-in !

We wish you lots of fun !

The easiest way to install/backup Enigma2 on IPbox

All you need is Symantec Ghost and an Enigma 2 image.

This tut works on IPbox 9000HD

The Ghost program and the E2 image is linked at the bottom of this thread.

the image is Enigma2_0.4.2 by Tideglo

The image already has the satellites scanned from 45 east to 45 west and the Language is set to English.

All you need is to replace the incubuscamd.conf with your working one and press blue button to get the cam menu to start it. And change the long and lat to yours.

          To install..

To install E2 Ghost image using Symantec Ghost32 8.0

put you USB stick in your PC and format it to fat32, ( i prefer to have 2 gig partitions on mine )

you could use Paragon Partition Manager ( search this forum for it )

open the Ghost programme, which is in the rar file below.

          then choose :-

Local > Disk > From Image

point to where the image is that you want to install.

Then choose the USB stick ( usually last option )

The operation will only take a few minutes.

When message says done remove USB stick and put it into your IPbox 9000.

          Switch off the box.

re boot it and press and hold the relevant remote control key to boot from USB stick,
Thats if you have multi boot flashed on your image, if not get it here http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...-9000-a-37129/

          -----------------------------------------------------------------

To back up your E2 image.

Put your USB stick in your PC.

Start the Ghost program then ...

          Local> Disk> To Image

Select the usb stick and press OK (usually the last in the list)

Select where you want to save the image to, give it a name , and end with .GHO ( example E2.0.4.0.GHO )

A new Window will appear asking if you want to back up your image normal, fast,or high compression

Next the message will be ':

          Image Creation Completed Successfully

          And given OK

Now you will find the backup of your usb pen in the folder you chose earlier.

          Code:

The image i had only came with the 2 sats pre set so i need to add a xml file the trouble is i cant seem to work out how to add it to the USB stick. Cant view the USB stick now on my Windows PC and when i mounted the stick through the NLB Webif and ftp'd to it all i could see was a Lost & Found Folder.

How do i access the stick to add to it?

format it to fat 32 , in your PC.

If windows dont auto detect it, use Paragon Partition Manager from here http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...9-0-pro-11996/

when the program starts up, choose advanced options, then point to your USB stick and choose partition if your stick is more than 2 gig. Then once its partitioned , format the partitions to Fat32 , and give each partition a drive letter and name .

Use the top toolbar to start each task , if its more than 1 partition to be formated it will ask to restart the PC for the 2nd drive on your USB stick.

Once its formatted successfully , take it out, then put back in, windows should auto detect it... If it does then your ready to flash it with Ghost, if it didnt detect it, give it a few goes, same with Ghost.

                    Hope that makes sense...

Once the image has flashed properly , you wont be able to see it in windows as it will be formatted to Linux format, and wont be found with windows.

If you only have a lost and found folder , that means you have not succesfully flashed the USB stick or it has been erased when booting up your box. Sometimes if you leave the stick in while booting to normal image it can get erased

The image ive uploaded has a satellites.xml with all sats from 45east to 45west

Dont know about the Lost & Found Folder but the image is working perfectly.

I have downloaded the image from your link and will try that later but what i would like to know is how i can edit anything on the USB stick such as xml file and incubuscamd.conf and third party addons or are files placed on the stb?

to edit the files you want to, you need to FTP to the IPbox. 192.168.1.7 ( i think the image might be set to that)

                          I use flash fxp

                          password = root
                          username = relook

when you see the files you want to edit i.e. incubuscamd.conf in var\keys , right click on incubuscamd.conf and choose edit, once done , save changes.

the satellites.xml i think is in var\tuxbox , just overwrite this with the one you want to use.

if you get stuck just post mate..

dont forget if you want to edit files on USB stick if you are booting from flash image. files are on mnt/usb/usb0

but when booted from E2 on usb stick files will be in normal status var/keys e.t.c
