Just an update on this..... in case anybody else stumbles upon this thread...
I solved the problem by inserting the tuner into the slot but leaving some room i.e. not fully pushing the tuner in. i left it so you could see some of the gold contacts (about 1mm). The tuners from spain seem to have longer gold contacts that go up the board further than other tuners....from the 2 sat tuners i observed anyway.
maybe cleaning the contacts works as well.... but i found after several tests.... it depends on how far you push the tuner down the slot. if using the spanish tuner and you get no services only transponders upon scan..... then lift the tuner very very slightly up - out of the slot, so it's still secure but not fully wedged in.
