Am I right in saying this seems to be a major problem for most people.

A faster USB device i.e 64MB buffer costs much more than the box itself. Not cost effective, better off buying an alternative box.

Does anyone know of someone who has a USB device working as it should with an open box ?????

I was hoping a firmware fix may be available.

      benchmark

Maybe the people that have working drives(hd recording) can do a benchmark on their drives so we have some numbers to work with. For me sd recording is no problem.Like you say a usb3.0 case with drive costs more than the receiver did.

Haven't recorded from the S10 before, but for info, just tried a drive here on BBC HD and it records / plays back fine...

        Verbatim mod. 47562, 250gb, 5400RPM, 8mb buffer.
Powered by USB (no external power source).

Using S10 'original' (with chip ID 1015) on firmware 11-09-14.

Not a 'hi spec' drive by any means, but it works!.

          sr

What is the SR of the transponder you record?
I have problems with SR of 20000 or higher(usually 30000)

I bought a western digital 500gig in usb2.0 case and it had the same transfer rate-33MBs and wouldn't record anything.
Got my money back and got a seagate 1.5Tb- same transfer rate and the s10 doesn't even detect it as connected.
            Using the 10-10-2011 firmware.

Has there been a known fix for this issue yet?

Just to let everyone know that I have returned my Openbox s11 and bought a CRYPTOBOX 400HD and so far I'm impressed with it, much better than the Openbox. The remote is easy to use, the ability to record one channel and watch another, menu display is much better, improved additional functions, no problem with recording to a usb flash drive, better quality etc...

Highly recommend and they cost around the same price as Openboxes.

usb 3.0 case works better,I was able to record hd with a symbol rate of 20000 with no problem.I used my seagate 1.5tb in that case instead of the original 2.0 case which the openbox wouldn't detect anyway.
