I could never get it to work with a usb converter.
I have used a usb to serial converter on both XP and Win 7 without any problems.

You need the correct drivers for Win 7.

    Take a look here:

that is with a different loader.
you never know how a different brand loader is going to react.
get or borrow an old pc and try.

Its a com error, i have had same issue.
Downloaded new drivers for adaptor from maplins site and it was ok.
You need to return the receiver from vendor if not happy.

that's why you should always have an old pc kicking around with a real com port.I've programmed my s10 with pure garbage and was always able to recover.200c is the only loader that will do that.
              It's been said you can't brick a m3602 based receiver,I am convinced.

there was once an oddball version of the loader that had the include bootloader ticked by default and you had no choice but to load it.Probably a better loader for rookies since most kills are caused by not including the bootloader when updating the firmware. It was less flexible than other versions so I never saved it.It wouldn't fix completely dead receivers so that was another factor in not saving it.

Thank you for posting a fix, have a S9 stuck on "on" that got corrupted when I used a corrupted firmware file. Have an old computer with a serial port, crossing my fingers.

I dunno if you have a Null modem cable, if you have a multimeter, test continuity between the pins in each end, if they match on each end then its a serial, if they dont match (they crossover to different pin on other end) then its probably a null modem cable..
is serial no good? i have usb serial converter but it keeps saying STB sdram is failed

six different firmwares...direct to serial port...using a usb serial adapter...hours and hours trying, following instructions by the letter...turned anti virus and firewall off...still getting the STB sdram is failed...every time

I have same issue with HDTVHD 500HD box. Did anyone think of a solution? It's stuck on "ON" - I think it got corrupted following using the FTP on it! Now it won't display "BOOT" either.

Interestingly, it will not sync unless I power cycle, but then it never takes update!

it should be the same technique/files as the openbox.
Is that the one with the scart connector,or was it the 800?

Yes this has a scart connector. Unfortunately, despite trying for hours nothing happens. Tried all different eprom loaders including the one I used to initially put the firmware on! I don't get sync ok unless I turn off box from being on. If I do 'connect' and then power on the box, the sync does not go 'ok'.
