    right guys trying to flash an s10 for a mate no display nothing so am using the eprom updater and tryed several diff firmware but nothing the updater just sits at synchronizing stbs please reset targets for ages anyone any ideas cheersssssssssss

      if you cycle power after the receiver gets screwed up the on goes away and you just get a blank display.
      Monitoring the rs232 port it should still say app init ok if you are using the correct serial cable.

        doesnt even say on then when i load the eprom updater then hit next it just sits for ages when i press cancell after ages it say are you sure downloading but it goes on forever think it for the bin

          receiver has to be off when you hit connect on loader,then you turn the receiver on.
          Make sure you are using the correct type rs232 cable.
          It must be null modem not straight thru.

            the receiver is set to off mate when i hit next then turn it on and its a null modem cable cheers

              I have had the Exact same problem. Replace all the capasitors in the power supply.
              You can run a hair drier over the caps to see if you can identify the ones that are likely to be wrong.
              get on your or off your box, with a bong!

                not something a casual user could do.
                I would make sure the rs232port is good with a terminal program then keep trying different firmware loads.The loader that worked for me was actually the s9 loader.

                  its not the power supply tested it with meter theres power at the board its defo corrupt firmware ill keep trying to flash it cheers

                    I just killed mine trying to load s12 firmware,rs232 port is dead according to my terminal program.In my case I will have to program the flash with an external programmer.
