    Can't connect to internet.

I cannot connect my Skybox M3 to the internet via the official WiFi dongle. I read somewhere on this site that to connect a Skybox via WiFi dongle, your router security needs to be singular. I contacted TalkTalk and told them I was trying to connect a device that needed a single security setting such as WPA or WPA2. I was then instructed to change my security settings from WPA2 to WPA with cyfer type TKIP and WiFi Protected setup set to disabled.
Still no joy, any advice appreciated.

I found you need to have router and device close to each other, then once connected move away

No it did not work. I also tried turning off the router security but still no luck. The seller is asking me to mess with router settings and I don't really know what I'm doing. What ISP are you with and did you have the same problem.

WiFi singles are so temperamental in my experience. The timeout issue doesn't seem to be resolved and it seems its just pot luck if it connects or not. PC World are doing devolo homeplugs @ ?16 for a set. You probably won't beat that

I have tried plugging wifi dongle into computer but win7 does not have the software to load the driver. Anyone know if a win7 driver is available for download.

Found the Win7 Drivers and Utility. The Skybox WiFi dongle now works when plugged into my laptop OK, but not the Skybox M3.
Some sellers are including a CD with driver and utility with the Skybox WiFi dongle, the one I purchased had no software as it was only intended for use on the Skybox.
I think the problem is the firmware on the Skybox, it needs sorting.
Link to the drivers... Ralink-A MEDIATEK COMPANY

                    wifi problem

common problem on f3 m3 when you attempt to connect and get the time out message reboot the box and it should connect I would also recommend you download the August firmware which claims to repair the issue ,it doesn't, but what it does do is reduce greatly the amount of times the dongle will lose connection

This is a new M3 and I have never been able to connect it to the internet, rebooted many times and makes no difference. If its a common problem, why dont the makers get it sorted! I should have mentioned that the signal strength is 85%.

similar situation here with an X3 and TalkTalk router.
I`ve got it to `connect` ok, or so it says, but still gives the scrambled message.

btw to get my wi-fi to connect to the router i had to use this hex to ascii converter Hex/Ascii Converter
just type in your wireless hex code push `convert` and enter the ascii in the Openbox menu when prompted. Thought mine was a bit strange at `adw??`, but when entered it then allowed it to connect ok.

Sadly you're not the only one with a new box that won't connect I can't answer why the manufacturer won't address the situation what I can say to you is check the firmware you're using some firmware doesn't successfully support wifi option that is why I suggested flashing box with August firmware your signal strength be normal for that type of connection
