F3 - Upgrade File Is Mismatch?

A friend of mine just brought a brand new Skybox F3 and I have tried to help him set it up, but every file that I use to upgrade the box comes with the same error (Upgrade File Is Mismatch) .....but if I try the files on my F3 then they work ok?

I searched the internet and the best that I can find is that the error message is because the file that is being used to upgrade the F3 box is older then the file installed?

The present firmware loaded on the box is:

ALI3601HD
3601HD_31_10_2012_0b39

So far I have tried all the latest files on the box but each one comes up with this error.............any ideas anyone please?

have you tried factory reset on box then copy ure files of your box and load them on to it ?

try the latest shaggys scooby snacks FW ? , its fairly recent
gives an extra "network app " also

edit , only for f3 not openbox (i have read )

I not seen my m8 for a few days, but in between the guy that he brought the box from has changed his box for another one and also tested the old one which he says checks out ok.

But the box is the same and keeps loosing its setting so we tried another firmware that works ok on my box but again the same error.......so I done a done a dump of my firmware from my box and reset his box back to factory setting, rebooted and then tried to load the firmware from my box to his and again the same error.....upgrade file is mismatch.

Does anyone know what this means please, also the firmware that is loaded onto the box is the same as in #post 1:

Could this be a clone box??? Plus I still have the packaging from my box and everything is the same, the box, the leads - everything, so i am not so sure that its a clone but may be wrong

what are you changing firmware for just put line on it and it should work

Because the firmware is unstable......lots of people are having the same problem, yes you can put a line on and it will work, but if you reboot sometimes it loses its settings or it will lose the wifi settings, hence the reason for wanting to try a firmware upgrade.

got the same firmware on my lads box havent had any issues with it yet but not using wifi have you tried the latest dogs bollox firmware if dosent work ask whoever you bought it off to sort it out

Tried and others and still the same error message, would be handy to know exactly what the error message means as well.

the reason is because F3 changed chipset a few weeks ago to have utube on it and old firmware was not to be loaded onto new chipset but that has been happening and bricking box so they have changed things so if anyone tries to load old sw they get mismatch ive attached my image with channels in fav set for scotland
