Nothin else is connected now and its still psycho .

Prime example...I do a USB update...get told there are no channels when I try to exit the menu. I do a factory reset...I get a whole load of channels in groups that they don't relate to. Its crazy.

Right having spent all weekend trying FW updates and Channel lists on this box, i've found a few things out.

When I delete all the channels on the box and install a new TP_PROG, after the install I hit exit and it says I have no channels. Odd.

If I do a manual scan, then leave the channels in place and THEN install a new TP_PROG it gives me channels....but they are literally all over the place and many of the channels have corrupt names with all odd characters in the name.

          BUT....

If I delete ALL the channels....then install a new TP_PROG....AND THEN MANUALLY SCAN AFTER installing the TP_PROG....I get all the channels, in the right favourites and in the right order and name.

Freaky...but I'm happy I now have a sensible list of channels and a workable favourite list.

I've given up on the FW update

As for the box, its got a mind of its own. One minute the update from USB works, the next it doesn't. Then sometimes the channels are in an order and other times it just puts them in weird orders and gives me a whole bunch of channels of nothing but odd characters.

            What a crazy box.

At this rate i'm thinking of manually doing my own favourite list using the channels it finds on the frequencies it can find them on.

May take me a while, but the quick way of doing it seems to upset this fragile thing!

Thanks for all your advice. I'll check out this tool, maybe I should just update the FW. Do you think it'll help with its mood swings??

Hi Tayta. Welcome to the Open/Skybox. You sum them up
            correctly.

            Mine is dead and buried.
            regards

Sounds like box is faulty. Try firmware upgrade but make sure you restore defaults first.

See skybox.cc for latest stable firmware for F5.

Lol if only it were that simple.

I've tried and failed at every method of firmware upgrade.

I would say it's a faulty box then. Are you able to return it?

Format your USB and put the file on again. Or try another stick.

If I could get an rs232 link to my f5 to work I'd do it myself. The software I've tried so far from the skybox site hangs on syncing with the stb bit.

Personally, as it could be a faulty box i'd take it back to where you bought it. The longer you have it the harder it becomes to return for refund or even a replacement in some circumstances.

If they manage to flash it then you need to make sure you can then as well (inc update channel list) otherwise you will have problems everytime you try to upgrade firmware/channel list.
