This is a strange problem I have never heard of anything like this, if the OP had not said he was getting BBC 1 etc.. I would have said the channel list is for a different satellite, but then again why get nothing with a blind scan ?
Or the BBC channels but not itv or channel 5 which could mean misaligned dish.

Hi everyone, thank you for the replies. I don't have another box setup, or satelite used for anything else. I have virgin, and had the dish installed for the one F5 box.

Hadron I have checked the antenna setup and it is all as you said. I done a blind scan and 3 out of the 100 said fail, rest ok.

I have compared the channels with 2 lists, Sky Sports 1 HD and E4 HD work on original, and not AJ's, BBC 1 HD works on both.

        Sky Sports 1 HD: Working= freq 12588mhz Not Working= Freq 11798
        Pol V Pol H
        Sid 4001 Sid 3802

        E4 HD: Working= Freq 11855mhz Not Working= Freq 11856
        Pol H Pol V
        Sid 3876 Sid 3876

        BBC 1: Working= Freq 10847 Working= Freq 10847
        Pol H Pol V
        Sid 6491 Sid 6491

          Well I'm stumped!

          First (SS1HD), there isn't a working transponder with a frequency of 12588 on 28.2e (either H or V)!

Second (E4HD), the frequency is 11856 (although +/- 1MHz doesn't usually matter), but the transponder is definately V not H. Again, there is no H transponder on this frequency.

As for BBC1 HD, how can it work on you original list as H, but also work on AJ's list as V (which is correct)?

So I really cannot think how this original channel list was devised to work with your box. I thought that maybe the LNB settings were wrong, causing the wrong frequencies to appear on the list, but you say that the LNB freq is correct (although it wouldn't explain the discrepancy between H & V settings).

edit... there is another SSHD1 with a SID of 4001, but that is on 11739V.

            This is from KingofSat: LINK

Sky Sports 1 HD Frequency 11798 Pol H

            E4 HD Frequency 11856 Pol V

            BBC 1 N.I Frequency 10847 Pol V

Very strange Sky Sport 1 HD your working frequency is completely different and what is going on with the polarity?
Or does that give us clue on your set up?

Its has stumped me for over a week now, I have emailed the person I got the box off to see if he had any ideas, but still no reply. Hoping hes away as normally very fast to reply. When the person who installed dish set it up, he told my partner ( I was in work at the time) that it was a strange set-up, and for me not to mess with the channels.

Did the same person who installed the dish also supply you with the box?

If not, did the dish installer know what kind of box you were going to use?

Also what kind of dish installation did you ask for? If it was a standard S l y installation, then I don't know what he meant by a "strange set up".

The problem is that channels change frequency every so often (Baby TV for example changed yesterday), so although the channel list supplied with the box might work now, it is obviously not future-proof if it cannot accept a "normal" channel list.

No it was a different person who installed the dish and set it up, I see your point with regard to not accepting lists, I'm just going to have to try get in touch with the provider.

How long ago was the dish installed? Was it a S l y installer who set it up for a S l y subscription box?

I'm wondering what he meant by saying not to mess with the channels.

Does your dish & LNB look like everyone else's in your road?

Hi Hadron, I'm sorry I never got back to you, was waiting for SKY man to call out. The problem turned out to be an old wire that was already installed that he tuned into the dish, he put in a new one and it worked ok, thanks for the replies
