Hi i did try that but still same problem,i have tried to alter one or two things and in the box to see if that would have helped, i could do a factory reset but i wouldn't know what settings or password to put in for the server as my nephew set it all up, i will wait for him to have a look at it either today or tomorrow, thanks for the replies and help though.Comment

UPDATE: I managed to get all channels back by going into satellite search and changed the setting to fta search and after a scan they all came back ?... however i have another question, after a recent downpour an hour ago i noticed the signal intensity and quality dropped to around 60% intensity and 35% quality whereas normally it is usually 90% and 75% does anyone else have this problem and is it normal in bad weather.... if so i am going to have a lot of unwatchable programs judging by the amount of rain we have in BOLTON... oh dear me, what have i let myself in for
i'm not joking but i wonder if there is a teflon coated spray paint or something similar anyway thanks for the replies so far.

Sounds like a Dish or even LNB problem and no teflon coating can fix thatUPDATE: I managed to get all channels back by going into satellite search and changed the setting to fta search and after a scan they all came back ?... however i have another question, after a recent downpour an hour ago i noticed the signal intensity and quality dropped to around 60% intensity and 35% quality whereas normally it is usually 90% and 75% does anyone else have this problem and is it normal in bad weather.... if so i am going to have a lot of unwatchable programs judging by the amount of rain we have in BOLTON... oh dear me, what have i let myself in for

It sounds like your dish needs a tweak. You obviously need to align your satellite dish during a heavy downpour! LOL....after a recent downpour an hour ago i noticed the signal intensity and quality dropped to around 60% intensity and 35% quality whereas normally it is usually 90% and 75% does anyone else have this problem and is it normal in bad weather.... if so i am going to have a lot of unwatchable programs judging by the amount of rain we have in BOLTON... oh dear me, what have i let myself in for

If you originally aligned your dish using your box as a signal indicator on one of the stronger transponders, then it may not be aligned very accurately, as the sig strength will max out at a certain level & stay there. Perhaps if you realign it while watching a channel such as CBS Reality, which is on the weaker Eutelsat satellite it might help. Or use a cheap sat meter, which has a variable attenuator on it to help peak the needle.
If you do realign the dish, don't forget that the skew of the LNB also has an effect.Comment

Hi hadron, i did have it on a channel that gave a poor signal reading of 35% and that channel now reads 70% but it wasn't CBS as i never knew that before you mentioned it, i actually aligned the dish with a signal meter yes that i got of ebay this week with a variable attenuator, i have another dish i might try to swap round this afternoon and see what that's like and check the LNB is not skewed also i was thinking of covering the LNB with a clear half plastic bottle to try and cut out the poor picture quality when it rains, what do you think of this and thanks for the reply and advice.
P.S.
I was meant to bid on a motorised dish with on friday but missed the auction with sorting other peoples internet problems out, it only sold for ?30

I have the same problem, is it worth , delete all and restore to factory settings and start againComment

I have never really understood what the coke bottle cover is trying to acheive. To me, it just introduces another layer of attenuation, but I guess it must work for some people I suppose.Hi hadron, i did have it on a channel that gave a poor signal reading of 35% and that channel now reads 70% but it wasn't CBS as i never knew that before you mentioned it, i actually aligned the dish with a signal meter yes that i got of ebay this week with a variable attenuator, i have another dish i might try to swap round this afternoon and see what that's like and check the LNB is not skewed also i was thinking of covering the LNB with a clear half plastic bottle to try and cut out the poor picture quality when it rains, what do you think of this and thanks for the reply and advice.

Regarding the skew, I have just looked at a few notes that I scribbled down a few years ago when I first installed my dish. It appears that one of the weakest transponders was 12560H (Peace TV, Faith channel). where the channels were pixelating. No matter how much I adjusted the azimuth & elevation, I couldn't get very good quality on this transponder, until I read about skew.
I had set the body of the LNB to be vertical, & it wasn't until I twisted the LNB clockwise (facing the dish with my back to the satellite) by a few degrees that the quality shot up. So if you haven't tried altering the skew, give the LNB a twist so that the body of the LNB is around the 7 o'clock position.
What is LNB Skew?

If you have a bog standard 43cm $ly dish with appropriate LNB then the skew is already applied as the official $ly ones are preset and have a scale of 1-5 which should never need adjusting from no.3 where ever you are in the UK, if however you have a no name offset dish with standard lnb if you adjust skew then as you look from behind the dish skew should be set at between the 4 & 5 o'clock position and should only need tweaking slightly
