Hi Barry best get one with its own power supply as advised in previous post by Digicon what you are looking for is usually called a - Desktop External Hard Drive instead of a Portable External Hard drive as the Portable ones are powered by the USB port which is not the best for recording etc. I personally use a Western Digital 1tb Desktop External Hard Drive.Comment

On a personal note, I use a Portable 500GB external HD and have had no issues with it at all. The 3 TB one you have listed is massive and to be fair you could save yourself ?50 or so if you went down in size. Remember to format to FAT32 though

Hi thanks for the reply, a 1 tb one from argos is ?60 so i thought i might as well go for the 3 tb one at ?99 as i have already got ?80 in argos vouchers saved which i been getting for doing online surveys and had them a year now so decided i might as well use them up.Comment
