Skybox F5S freezes completly. Plug out and plug in to restart

Hello again. Today a bigger problem has made its appearance: it freezes. But not in the "scrambled" way, it freezes like a "crashed" state. Occasionally when I switch channels, it stops and locks the screen (can't press Menu, can't power off by remote) and I can't do anything but to pull the plug and plug in to restart when I left.
It bothers me because I have another box (Azfox) with the same issue.
My question here is: What causes this problem? And how can I fix this?
Another question: Should I use the box on a laptop cooling pad?

By the way, I have installed the 20130821 update.

    Thanks.

There's a bug fix that's not long been up on the website. Might be worth a go..

The problem occurs after 10 or 12 hours aprox.

Yes. Might be worth it. I will install it and give it a try to see how does it go.

Ah. I forgot to say it crashed when switching channels through the big channel list.

If you have two boxes that crash when switching channels then do you know someone who has a known to work fine Skybox you can swap with yours (vice-versa)?

If you don't know someone else with SkyBox then do you have an original $ky box you can test to see $ky box works fine?

I don't use Sky UK and unfortunately I don't know anyone around who has the same device.

Sorry I wasn't clear, it doesn't have to be same box just a satellite receiver (ideally a Openbox/SkyBox though but if not any will do)?

How long have you had the box and how long as it been crashing?

I'm trying to establish if another known good satellite box works fine or if not. If it's not then I'm thinking LNB or the sat cable.

Thanks for the answer. I've got this box since Tuesday and it only crashed twice after several hours of use (Wednesday and Thursday). I recently upgraded it to the last version.
And yes, I have an Azfox and it works fine. Although I have to check the LNB and the sat cable.

                    Similar problem

Has anyone tried this firmware update, my box after 2 weeks of running fine has just started locking up showing the scrambled Logo. If I turn the box off and on, it comes back working, then scrambles again after 1 minute, turn it on and off again . . . etc. etc. I have friends with same box and other boxes that connect to the same server fine. . . . My box isn't strictly speaking locking up, as I can access the menus and change channels, it just seems that the picture/channel locks up.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I don't think that's your box. It sounds like something we're not allowed to talk about on this forum.

Can you clarify whether your Azfox works fine as this message contradicts your OP where you quote:

Of course. My mistake. I have an Azfox that works fine aside from the freezing issue (4-5 hours and freeze. Random). On the other hand, I can keep using Skybox beyond that limit.

Thanks. I assume you mean you can be watching a channel and then suddenly the Azfox will freeze. Can you confirm if Azfox freezes on freeview (FTA) channels (ie not scrambled, etc).

Yes. I can be watching any channel and suddenly POOF!! the box froze. Switching channels... nope. Power off by remote... nope. Only chance: power off by unplug and plug in to restart. That is the main problem shared by Azfox and Skybox.
But, something is different. No matter what firmware update I install on Azfox, it always occurs... sooner or later. However, I installed the last F5s firmware and so far nothing happened. I'll continue monitoring it for any unusual behavior.

By the way, would you suggest the use of a laptop cooling pad?
