Hi, i seem to be having ssme problem with not having the rpg option in my menu, would like to uodate my firmware but im worried ill wipe............................. could someone please tell me how to back everything up before i try it cheers all

post 38 above mate tells you how, just go to menu were you upgrade your channel list, and dump all your files to usb, .................................... , just dump it then reinstall after updateing the firmware same way you put channel list on

Cheers lads all updated, epg running except for movies, any ideas on a fix or is that how it is for now, after i did the new firmware update, i didnt need to do anything else..ie all my channrls came back on eithout putting the channel list ................................., is this right or do i need to slso add those?

Can anyone upload a vid of the new firmware and epg in operation? I'd like to see it first before taking the plunge. Thanks in advance

the new image file does very little to the box beyond adding the EPG...there is an even newer image that looks like it ties the EPG into the record timer.
As long as you confortable using the USB for doing updates this is straight forward.
Downloading and installing the EPG the 1st time takes about 10 minutes all in...most of it spent writing the info back to the pendrive / external HDD.
The EPG is not perfect and some channels details randomly come up blank..no info etc but it worth a try

I tried the new firmware from 24/12 and while it might work fine if you use the internet for EPG if like me you don't use the internet at all and work with 2 LNB's for different satellites and use the EPG there....the record is broken... you can set the timer up even in advance but it doesn't even switch over to record...so back once again to the reliable 17/11 release...which is working for timer recording, it's doing the 3rd one today.....without a glitch... I guess with all the effort for internet epg they messed the software for the satellite epg for us on 19.2
I have 28 as well but have a tv guide for that and I don't have or want Sly channels via sealion kit

I have zero issues with reception on 19.2 and 28.... just the new sw update has messed up the satellite epg recording up....
As I don't need/want the internet or it's EPG so I have slipped back to the 17/11/13 SW as it works faultlessly
19.2 has a 7 day epg anyway unlike the 28 where you get now or next.... on the 17/11 sw you can still program ahead....just use a TV magazine/supplement

I will be reverting back to the old f/w its better for zapping I don't need epg as I only feed hunt with this box.

anyone care to give me instructions on how to fix the issue with the movies not appearing in any shape or fashion on the epg list

You must live USB stick in the box all the time and try rebooting the box after update.

aye, all sorted tested it this morning and it had rectified itself, it must have done an auto update during the night.

How does auto update work? At what time channels are auto updated? "Need update" appears on my f5s but auto update does not seem to occur. Manual update always seem to take about 10 minutes.

If you have set the button to auto update 'on' then the epg will update as soon as you put the box into standby. Display will show 'EPG-'

The behavior is quite strange. Auto update was "on" and epg was not being updated. Last Friday I turned auto update off and then on, put the box in standby mode and the epg was updated automatically. The epg needed update yesterday and I put the box in standby mode and epg was not updated. It only worked if turn auto update off and then on.
