Got my f5s loaded with all new softwares and a 4 GB memory stick for EPG
EPG and timer set for auto update and update by internet but EPG not auto updating any info welcome

I just checked mine and it hadn't updated either. The EPG auto update only happens when the box is switched to standby and while the box is updating " EPg- " is displayed on the front instead of the time display. Well I switched the box off and nothing happened so put it back on and switched it off a second time and bingo - mine is currently updating. So maybe , try that.

i had a weird situation on my box...its internal date went to some date in 1903 and it refused to do updates....switched EPG/time to satellite and date came back, then switched back to internet and it was back to normal.

Is there not a box that all this updating is done automatically ? I need to be in the right frame of mind to go through this and take it in as this sort of thing doesn't coma naturally to me at all and tends to fry my brain. I only started to use a PC and the internet in 2009 but not on a regular basis until about 2 years ago. I would ay that my knowledge and skill levels are at he level of 3 steps before basic.

See the OP, it is mentioned what each download is for. Also, ensure your box is F5s, not F5 as they are different boxes.

anyone managed to get the epg for movies showing for today? it shows showcase only for some reason and will show for tomorrow etc but not today?? strange one! apart from that its a major improvement, have set scheduled recordings and all works well, box selects the channel needed and records automatically as long as its not on standby. Auto updates working nicely and picons are an added bonus...makes the f3s a steal at this price imo.

It's a bit of a strange issue, that one. I've had the same thing too on past occasions but I've just checked and all the movie channel listings for today are showing ok on my F5S box with my current Epg which has a downloaded date of 29/12/13. Maybe, every now and then the Epg is not fully downloading or is incomplete.

When I first did a manual update myself, I noticed that epg for movies was missing. The following day I noticed I had an epg for movies which must have done via the auto update.

Someone previously said that auto update only happens around 24:00 when in standby mode.

Maybe, as bigade1 has stated, the epg isn't always downloading fully.

I'm not too concerned as it's still a huge improvement compared to basic now & next and all this in a less than ?50 box.

Updated my F5s today, apart from the movies not showing EPG information for the current day all seems to be working fine. PICONs a nice little addition.

Can someone confirm that the autotimer wont function when the box is in standby mode? Once you can record from standby then the much slatted skybox's will be a great little bedroom box.

Running a Octagon SF8 with openvix as my main living room box which is better but also almost 3x the price.

I spent a few hours testing various methods for the timer recordings and it simply shuts down completely on standby....leave it on and all is well...one thing i havent tried is mutliple recordings

Maybe they will fix it so in a future update so when on standby it will come on to record. Do you know if it turns the channel over itself when recording in case you have left it on another channel?
