Just a heads up for those who are using the PICON tool and are unaware - the PICON logos used by skyboxes are obtained from this site:

LYNGSAT LOGO - Satellite Broadcast Logos

There are several updated HD channel logos available but there are also a lot more logos which need updating such as the " +1 " channel variations.

Yes, but you would need to keep a usb drive in the box as it's needed for storing the EPG data (7 days) and/or PICON data.

Actually having just read the firmware changes I noticed that when wanting to record from EPG data you needed to select record. I didn't so it was basically turning channel over for me to watch live (so to speak).

My apologies for not reading or noticing that.

I currently have a powered external hard drive connected to my f5s instead of a usb stick, this is connected 24/7. I use this for recording, can I just dump the epg/picon software on to it?

There isn't generally any pattern except that recently there have been a few updates to F5s/F3s models but that's because these two boxes are the (relatively) current/main boxes.

Yes put the picon file on the route of the hard drive. The EPG will decompress into its own folder etc

I can recommend this picon file and channel listing

I have improved AJ's HD channel list and added all the icons in ics file. See attached and comment with any views if you like it. Newbs, you will need to install the TP_PROG.dbs and have the 0282e.ics on your usb hdd.

Are you sure I can use the actual EPG button on the remote for 7 days EPG or will it still say now and next? Before I proceed can I ask one question how many gb do I need I have 512mb and 8gb USB? Does it keep adding the memory up? Quick response please I want to get this over and done with. Thanks

I don't think 512mb is large enough, i'd say the 8gb. So long as you set box to use 7day epg and download it (first time around only) and set auto update it then just keeps replacing it so it doesn't keep adding up.

Wonder if we will get a tutorial on how to make and edit the picons using editor, it's no good releasing the editor and assuming everybody knows how what to use to do it.

The EPG is displayed when you press the EPG button and so long as it has updated itself you will get full 7 days. As for memory, try using 512mb first to see you can. If not, then use your other one. Whichever usb you use will have to be kept in the box.

I will say you're extremely unlikely to be able to record much (if that's your intention as well) with just 512mb.

There is a basic instruction pdf manual. It's not perfect but personally I think it's easy-to-use except for if you wish to use different (ie your own) picons and that's when it becomes more of a pain than it's worth (imho).

                                Whilst this firmware update is nothing short of fantastic - unfortunately it suffers with the same problem as the last few;

The box will not come out of standby mode to record with this, the current firmware (24-12-13).
It will however switch channel and record if you leave the box on - but it turns itself off after recording, so if you have more than one recording set, the second recording etc would fail as the box is turned off.

The last firmware in which the auto-on & record from standby feature worked successfully was the 24-10-13 release, here; SkyBox | SkyBox

I've personally looked for a contact us on the skybox website because somebody wants to inform them that the latest firmware releases are in effect flawed.

If they re-release the current firmware version with the auto-on timer function working once again, the box will finally be perfect, that is the only thing letting it down now.
