I would think so as my current Epg has the date of the 9th of January and the status in the settings states " OK ". Saying that though, I'm not sure how the auto update really works as sometimes I tend to force the box to auto update because when I check the Epg settings it sometimes states " update needed ". When I say force an auto update as opposed to a manual update - I actually mean it. I've discovered the following behaviour. I can switch my box on and back to standby several times and the Epg does not update by itself but for some strange reason if I go into the Epg settings via the " Network Apps " route and then exit and switch the box into standby, the letters " EPg - " flash for approx. 5 minutes on the front display of the box indicating that the box is updating the Epg. This is despite the fact that I do not alter any settings in the Epg but merely by entering the settings menu it somehow triggers a response. Give it a try yourself.Comment

Tried that but I wasn't sure if you meant it would update as soon as box is on standby after going into epg settings via network apps....I've discovered the following behaviour. Nothing happened yet after 10mins.
But taking on board what you said about going through network apps, i've done a test. I turned epg auto update off and went back to epg via satellite instead of xmltv. Deleted actual epg files on my usb stick, rebooted and turned epg back to xmltv instead of via satellite. I then went into xmltv setting via network app not through the other method and did a manual update today (but dated 10th on epg) and set auto-update back on again.
Basically, all I did was manual update of epg and set auto update on via network apps xmltv instead of other menu option incase it's a bug that via other method doesn't actually autoupdate.
I will report back with findings in a week.
However, it would help if someone can confirm if their auto-update works how often it checks when left on standby. Is it nightly, every few days or only when existing epg data has expired (ie 7 days)?Last edited by bbb_uk; 11 January, 2014, 10:43.Comment

does anybody know if I can record multiple programs on the new recording timer on the 7 day epg, cheersComment

It unfortunately will only record if box is left on (ie not standby) but turns itself onto standby after a recording has finished so unless inbetween recordings you switch box on again then no.
Hoping this and other things are sorted in a future firmware update.Comment

Has anyone tried doing what I suggested in this thread?
Haven't tried it myself yet, but it might keep the box switched on, in between recordings.Comment

Just timed mine and its approx 3 secs on most channel changes except FTA ones which are approx 2 secs. The extra second on non-FTA maybe for obvious reasons.
The delay may be because the box has to check day/time and load EPG (assuming you have opted for the full 7 day epg) for that channel from your usb/hdd drive. When it was just now/next (basic default as supported by $kyuk) this info was obtained via satellite.
The delay personally doesn't bother me at all.Comment

This firmware isn't compatible with the x5 and most channel lists on this forum aren't either. I'd search this forum for x5 channel list. It may be old though, or alternatively, do a manual scan yourself.Comment

I can not get my auto update to work either. It's set to auto update but it's not. Having to manually go into the xmltv epg menu and press the red button every 4 days.
Any ideas how to get this auto update working? I take it it should still update if it's in standby?Comment
