Thanks for the advice, but it does exactly the same again.

I don't know if it means anything, but there is a solid green light in the display when it freezes.

I don't remember that being there when it was working.

Any more ideas gratefully appreciated. I'm getting close to chucking this thing away.

      Hello,

I have an F5S, approx a 1 month old and it is not a clone. I have updated the firmware to the latest from skybox.cc. I have also download the LAN tool. I can connect to the box no problem at all and just today I have sent over a new channels list (AJSat). It all works as expected. I do not have any crashes or hangs or anything of the sort.
I keep a USB stick permanatly connected to the box for the EPG (which is crap coz its XMLTV and not Crossepg which you need for 28.2) I have picons custom nack logo.. and my network is hard wired.

Infact I cant beleive how easy this box is, but I do come from Linux Boxes..

if I can be of help to anyone let me know.

          Fine.... A few questions..
Do you know if the box is a clone or not? if clone then I dont knwo what to suggest, if not then its hopeful
Where are you downloading the firmware from? I recommend download the latest from skybox.cc... the latest being the date.

Freshly format a usb stick (fat32) and flash the box. Also before flashing remove the RJ45 Lan cable.

Hi, thanks for getting involved with this, but I'm honestly at the point of giving up.

My box is an original and not a clone. To make sure of this I have installed the clone firmware as well to see if it does anything.

With that installed I was only able to get to L097 on boot and it froze at that.

I have installed firmware from skybox.cc and also from http://www.yojiatech.com/

There is absolutly no difference in outcome.

I have tried images for the F5s, the F5 and also the Scooby Snax image for the F3.

The one I get most success with is the Scooby Snax image which will work on the channel it defaults to (CBBC) but then freezes when anything else is tried.

I appreciate anyone's feedback on this, but I'm totally out of ideas.

I know it not a feed issue, and with the number of firmwares I've now flashed on it I'm getting very close to ruling out any software issue. But if any one has further suggestions I'm willing to try.

But failing that I will be buying a new box on payday.

If thats the case can anyone recommend a reliable box for someone on a budget.

            Cheers

              Hello Jambo

the scooby snax image that you managed to gt the boot with is a good start. After your box has started have you tried factory reset sttraight away? this may clear any confilcts in the image. Then after a reboot proceed to load a channel list. Then reboot again (or in most case it auto reboots)..

Yeah, I tried that one, did the reset ok, installed the AJ Channel list. Rebooted the box. It loads, but defaults to UTV HD. The channel starts playing ok, but within 1 or 2 seconds the box freezes (Green light comes on the front of the box, the channel banner just stays on screen) the channel keeps working for around 10 -15 seconds but the remote cant control a thing, and after the 10-15 seconds the box freezes completely.

I've also tried the factory reset and then install the correct F5S image, but same result.

OK that seems like a memory leak, which is honeslty rare in these boxes, but you never know...
After you have flashed the working image (scooby snax) then factory reset, after a reboot. do not load a channel list. But do a full scan on 28.2. Run that as is and see what happens. Seems very strange but channel list maybe cause a flash memory issue.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've never heard of a memory leak?

I'll definitely give it a go but it will be tomorrow now. I've more than had enough of messing around with it for today.

I'll let you know the outcome though.

                    Cheers

Its OK sailsy. I know I may have sounded smug. But all I wanted to put across is that I use the LAN tool for channel list and back logo. And it works.
Anyhow let's try an get your box working.

This applies to both you sailsy and jambo. You guys are not using a WiFi dongle are u?

I've just tried flashing mine again.

Flashed the Scooby Snax image. Factory Reset and deleted the channels.

Did a full scan, channels were found. Rebooted box, loaded up to the first (default channel) Iqra TV, same outcome.

                            I'm totally out of ideas.

In response to the earlier question, no I'm not on wifi, connected direct to the router by Cat 6 cable.

OK Lets go back to basic....
I suggested yesterday that you remove any peripheral connections. This means remove your RJ45 also.
Now since you have freshed flash this morning. turn box off (pull power cable). Then remove RJ45 & USB. So the only thing left is HDMI cable and Sat cable in LNB 1 (remove any loop if you have).
Some basic things to check aswell... is the box hot!!!! and or does it smell of electrical burn (you will know fi there is a funny smell).

Finally you may not want to hear this, but I suspect the box is clone...

I've removed all of the suggested cables. I've tried it with every combination of cables imaginable, from just the power lead by itself, through to all of them.

I'm trying another flash of the correct F5S image at the moment with the HDMI, LNB Feed, RS232 and Power leads only in.

The box isn't hot at all, and there is no smell at all coming from it.

Is there any way of telling if its a clone? I tried putting the clone firmware on it, but the box wouldn't even boot on that occasion.
