record FTA channells

Not sure what is happening with ur recording but have u tried recording a FTA channel. If that works then not sure what ur problem is. If u get a blank screen on the FTA recording then check that ur USB device is formatted properly ie NTFS or FAT.
Remember if it is formatted as FAT then the biggest file size is 4Gb!!!!

Record of FTA channells is ok... only for scrambled and drecypted channells is the problem...

Just ordered openbox s9 HD pvr, is it easy to set up? and does it need to be connected to the internet all the time or just for updates, sorry if this is a stupid question

it's very easy to set up, have a read back through this thread for instructions. The box dosent need to be connected to the Internet all the time. If you want to get full use of the box though you will need Internet. This can't be discussed here. Google cardsharing. Updates are done through USB

Under TV System:

Page 21 of the manual says I should have HDMI Video Out for setting the HDMI Video Output mode.

I don't have it on mine either ~ when you start up with an HDMI connection to your TV ~ go to "video resolution" and select HD output resolution ~ ..... 720i 1080i ~ you don't get this option with a scart.

Nope it's my tv thats the issue.
For some reason it will not play on the HDMI port for some reason.
I tried on my 22 inch HDMI tv and that was fine, so lead and box settings are correct. 50 inch tv plays via Hdmi from my media box fine so not sure where to go next.

Is there not a menu on your 22in TV which allows you to select various input sockets .... ie/ aux, scart1, scart2, hdmi etc ?

Sometimes I do, try changing the audio from stereo to mono channel or changing the audio out in the menu from lpcm out to bs out or the other way round I can't remember.
