Use DCC - Dreambox control centre for ftp.

What runs out on the 5th?

If you are connecting straight from pc to box you need to use a crossover cable.

A lot of modern network devices don't need crossover cables, even when connecting to computers directly. The switching is done automatically.

What error are you getting when you try to connect?

check what your ip address is of your router and pc.

do this by clicking 'Start' on pc, 'Run', type CMD, then type ipconfig.

your 'Default gateway' is your router, your IP address is ur pc.

go into dreambox network settings and untick DHCP, manually enter in an IP address (if your pc IP is 192.168.1.2, then put ur dm ip address as 192.168.1.6, if ur pc IP is 192.168.0.2, then put ur dm ip as 192.168.0.6), save, exit and reboot ur dreambox

On your FTP client try to increase the timeout value and make sure you use passive mode. Also check your firewall on the LAN on both your PC and router.

also when changing your dm ip manually, also change the gateway ip to that of your router
