that problem. With scart cable, there is sound but inferior quality of image.
First thing start your own thread theres no point in jumping into a thread thats about sim 2.01 then start ranting about dvi to hdmi. This is happening alot and not fair on the original author and the thread gets messed up.

Regarding your problem i take it you have selectrd dvi in your menu? Often there is no sound because you have selected scart and not dvi.
Another thing and this is happening on my Dm800 at the moment is i somethimes i dont get sound so i take either end of the hdmi to dvi in and out and put it back in and it does come back.Probably a short or bad earth somewhere.
Other than that try anonther dvi to hdmi lead.

        Andy.

you would get more success if you started your own thread with the subject hdd problems. People look into this one to follow what its about ie such as the title of the thread.
I dont have a hdd so dont know. Has it been formatted correctly, I take it it will need formatting to the linux system through your dream.

thought the dvi output on the dm800 was modified to carry sound.
try the audio button on the remote and select another audio track.

Would you PLEASE indicate to all DM 800HD users, how you would use White/Red
AUDIO connections on the rear panel, as there are no such ports.

The DVI on the DM800HD Clones certainly does carry sound, you don't need any other connections.

The DVI standard is for video only it does not carry audio. However the DVI output on the DM800HD and clones is not a standard DVI.
It has modified pinouts to carry both video and audio. So you dont need any additional conenctors use the supplied DVI to HDMI cable it works fine for audio + video.
