Hi m8
transfer the cfg file when you have the ect folder open you are probable transfering your config file to the root of the img.
cheers johny48
Thanks johny48 I overcame it by "ftp" the "cfg" file to a sub folder called "cline" when I had "etc" folder open - don't know if that was right but it cured my problem so I'm happy!!!??? Many thanks all
If you make a minor alteration to the skin script you can make it use your standard picons. So no need for a separate download. I did upload a link to the script in the thread about exporting picons but someone deleted it. In the same thread satsmo has offered to upload the script, definitely worth a try. I can always send you the link if you pm me. I store mine on a USB key in the picon folder, no changes were needed other than the tweak mentioned above to get them displayed on the oled.
I always use the cooltv guide on any dreambox with crossepg, find it looks really good. To complete it all install the enhanced movie centre plugin, it makes watching recordings a much better experience than the standard media player.
On a side note, the best image for me is the VIX one I use on my xtrend 9000..the built in epg on there is great. I noticed a release of this image for the dm800se, but in the notes it said external flash only...if this can be installed and works anything like the xtrend 9000 version it will be hard to beat
I know i'm replying to a rather old post but after reading multiple references to a ViX DM800se image over several pages of this thread i thought i'd reply to clear things up.
Yes there is a ViX image for the DM800se created by the ViX team but ( VIX-Team-dm800se-ramiMAHER ) is not the one. That particular image is a Vu solo image bodged to work on the DM800se by the SIM2 team Hence why it wont work if flashed directly to the internal flash.
The official ViX dreambox images were worked on very briefly but were soon abandoned upon reaching 2.3-059 primarily due to none of the team having access to genuine DMM hardware for testing purposes. These images are fully functioning DMM images in the standard .nfi format and can be flashed to their respective receivers in the same way as any standard image. saying that however sadly they will never be released to the public as although they are working images they are still considered as early beta builds and as such andy will never release a image which has not been fully tested.
hey guys learnt a lot from this thread it's real informative, I don't even have my 800se yet (should be here by Thursday 12th or Friday 13th).
But i believe i have the grasp of things and can preform the tasks easily.
once again Thank you to all that have contributed to this thread and being patient with the noobs.
just one question regarding the internal flash memory, how much should we leave free, so we don't get the green screens or crashes as mentioned in the thread? THX
Since I purchased the dreambox I have always used DreamboxUk image.
Didn't even know about timeshift, epg, picons etc...,
Flashed my box with 'BACKUP DM800se SIM210 SSL84b' problem I have is as follows:-
1. Set up cccam
How do I enter my ccline? Installed 2.21 in emu (green button to start ccam) The software I use (sorry in work and dont know the name) you type the IP address then enter the line details. (I have the correct IP address as able to web browse to it)
Flash back to Dreambox image and works no problem.
Picons
I have a hard drive but how do I get the picons onto it?
Use an FTP program, like Filezilla, type the box ip to connect to it in Filezilla.
Open notepad, and copy and paste your cline into it, and save as Cccam.cfg
Your newly created Cccam.cfg goes in the var/etc directory.
It's better to stick picons on a USB pen mate. If you put them on the HDD it will spool up each time you change channel, and cause sluggish operation.
Go to var/media,find your USB drive, and create a directory called picons, then drop your picons into said directory.
Already tried to use a FTP program created a Cccam.cfg in notepad can drag and drop into 'var' directory, the 'etc' is a shortcut in the 'var' directory. Click on the 'etc' directory try and drag and drop it says 'failed'
Thank you for uploading this image alom5, I have installed it okay, but I have not tried to get picons running yet.
I have got some picons in folders on my hardrive on computer but they are in separate folders for each satellite, do I just transfer them into the folder you said picon and picon folder inside that? or do I have to take them out of the folders and put them all together in picon folder?
I tried to record to usb key last night but playback skipped sometimes, would this be because I used usb key to record on or should I just install 500gb sata drive in it and that would stop the skipping??
I am upgrading from dm800 pro to the dm800se
i am looking for a image similar to dreamelite phoenix edition if there is one for the 800se any links or if not any images which are as good as that one is
