null modem help

can someone show me on ebay which cable i need to flash my dreambox with dream up my computer has female connector port so needs a male to fit in it and the dreambox has a male port so needs a female end to fit it i think either way i think i need a male to female null modem cable to flash my dreambox any links to items on ebay would be great thanks in advanced for your help and support im a complete newbie.

how many pins in the port on your pc? are you sure you are not looking at a vga port? like below





far as i know null modems are supposed to be female both sides of cable



either way this one should do you, you can plug it into a usb port computer side

15 like you picture its not a desktop so only that port in your picture and the opposite port on the dreambox

i once used a adaptor i have not it was usb to male and connect that to null modem male to male and it used to work because i did a technomate with dark loader but ive lost the driver cd and it wont work with dream up now

a null modem cable has 9 pin female plugs on both ends
and if your computer does'nt have a 9 pin serial port
you also need a usb to serial convertor cable to use the
null modem cable from a usb port on the computer

the port you are looking at is for an external monitor.

hi.

thanks ive got that but ive lost the drivers and downloaded someoff the internet but it wont find/connect to my dreambox the problem with my dreambox is that it just reboots after you set the timezone and press save what can i do now is there anyway to reset the box or something to its factory settings

what image are you using?
there should be a "restore to factory settings" in the settings section

i cant access the settings menu i only get to the set timezone and when i press save it reboots the image has a gp image background if that helps i dont know much about the box

new problem now i have loaded the software with the driver suggested and im stuck this is what ive been doing step by step
1 plug in adaptor to dreambox off
2 load dreamup via dmloader 1.14
3 com 4, connect, it says connection prepered now switch on the dreambox when i switch the dreambox on plug the power adaptor in,the message stays the same and nothing happens im stuck now.
im trying to reflash my dreambox got it from a friend and it boots to the menu where you choose tv pal and what timezone your in press save and just reboots everytime it has a logo behind it saying gp or something this must be the image any help would be great im at a loss now.cheers.
