    dm500 PC fan install

    which two power pins do i use to power a PC fan to help keep my dreambox cool as it des seem to get extremely hot..

    have you read this..???



    also how is it hot..?? have you something on top of the box, blocking the air slots..??

    the fan has a blue LED.. right up your street

      There is nothing on top of the receiver but the case is really hot So i removed the case..cheers for the link..i had seen it before but couldnt find the thread again..cheers

        all done using a fan from my PC..it had three wires[red/black/white] but i only used the red and black! whats the white one for?

          The white one is most likely for the PC's fan sensor. It monitors the speed of the fan and adjusts it as necessary.

              this is probably a real dumb question but which way should the fan face? towards the IBM chip or away from it? so like this |> or like |<...the line is the chip..arrow is direction of wind being pushed

                .. yes it is..

                unless you just want a cold case then make sure the direction of the wind is over the circuitry..

                its the motherboard and components getting hot that will cause you a problem..

                        Well, i didnt use dm 500 for one year now, beacuse of hight temp isnide it, which caused freezing of picture. Now I would like to add fan from pc inside, where should I solder the red wire, and where to solder black one?
