Flashing a DM600-PVR without null modem cable

Not sure if you will suggest to rename the image to (Gemini_backup.sh), but thought all extentions had to be . + 3 letters..

What about usin g the telnet option?

1. In the telnet window, type the following, pressing <return> at the end of each line.

mount /boot -o remount,rw
rm /boot/*
reboot

2. You should now get a message saying that the Dreambox is rebooting.

3. Wait a few seconds and then run Explorer (Firefox or whatever) and enter the ip address of the Dreambox in the address bar.

4. On the screen that appears, choose the 'Upgrade firmware' option, find the .nfi file and click the 'Flash' button.

5. Once the progress bar reaches 100%, reboot the box

Did your method with the telnet, the box turned itself off, the (red & green lights) were flashing like it was sending out (morse code) or something,
opened up explorer & typed in the Dreambox ip, but only got the message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage",
tried a few times, then opened up telnet again but it could not connect either, the only way I could reboot the box was to unplug the power & plug it back in again, as the remote would not respond, nor would the button on the Dreambox (even tried holding the button down).

Now the Dreambox will not boot up, & every time I plug it in, it just goes to the (morse code) red & green flashing lights. :-(

Here are it's last dying words,

root@dm600pvr:~> reboot

I am assuming that you were using a fixed ip address on your dm600 so this ip address will change once you kill the bootloader. You will need to go into your router check the 'new' ip address of your dm600. Continue with step 3. from this point onwards.

checked the router and found it on 192.168.1.100,
logged into it with my browser & got it to flash..



Top man, now got the Jade image on there & now scanning for services.
