can't flash DM 500-s

Hi all,

I would be most grateful to anyone who can offer guidance on the following:

my boyfriend and I have been trying to flash our DM 500-s (I think its a clone) for days now. we are using a null cable with dreamup and keep getting the following error message in dreamup when we try to flash:

7:37:45 PM box type: DM500
7:37:54 PM Ping result: OK, box is alive and speaking to us ;-)
7:38:01 PM Uploading file to box...
7:38:08 PM ERROR , upload aborted!

we have tried using different PCs (both using windows xp), we have tried various old and new versions of dreamup. I am trying to flash a PLI Jade image on to the box (pli-Jade-dm500-20090627-6494) but can't get it to even start uploading (tried simply to erase as well and the same thing happened)

my boyfriend is convinced that we need the original driver cd for the null cable, which we can't seem to find anywhere in our apartment

I have changed the port setting for COM to 115200

none of this has helped.

any suggestions?

you need set com to 56.000 and use a null modem cable, then before of upload the flash file, you delete the memory, use only file for your dreambox

have you tryed a different image
just incase the one you downloaded is corupt or maybe

thanks for trying to help! and please excuse my ignorance, I have been reading every post I can find on this, but am alas a newbie, and tend to get a bit confused in this area...

I could only find a setting for 57.600 for the com (not 56.000). Changed to 57.600 . Used the null modem cable, tried flash delete with dreamup (is this what by delete memory?) but again got an error message:

7:57:42 PM Ping result: OK, box is alive and speaking to us ;-)
7:58:00 PM ERROR resetting lock-bits!!

am i doing something wrong?

is there another image you would suggest for a DM 500 s clone? In the meantime I will download pli jade again and see what happens

Have a look in the downloads section and try a couple to see which you prefer. Keep away from Gemini images with a clone box.

Flash your dm500 using the erase image then flash an image of your choice. If you do flash a Pli image then make sure you are not flashing an 'Open Pli' image as that won't work with a clone dreambox.

have tried again with new pli images with same result:

have also tried with nabilosat but can't figure out to upload nfi files with dreamup

could the problem be related to something other than the image file?

Make sure your firewall is turned off.

thank you all for jumping in to help. I have disabled the firewall. How can I tell if pli is OPEN or not? am also getting same result with Darkstar II (ERROR, upload aborted)

You cannot use .nfi image on your dm500 as those images are for a dm600. You should be fine with a Pli Jade 3 image and make sure it has an extension of .img.

have been using Pli JAde 3 but the upload keeps getting aborted in dreamup

Have you tried ftp'ng the image to the box and flashing using the remote.
