    DreamBox 500 setup

    thinking down which routes to go for my TV viewing.

    someone pointed me in the direction of the dream box which he says he has been using for some times now and using the card shearing websites paying 20 or whatever it is a month. But he's got a different dish which means he picks up loads of channels from all over europe. I was thinking about just using an sky mini dish with the box and c/s and if liking it then think about a new dish.

    now this all sounds to easy and good to be true for me.

    1. will getting the Dream Box 500 hooking it up to an sky mini dish then I'm guessing an ethernet cable to my router then its a go ?

    2. what channels will i be reciving ?

    3. is there anything else involved ?

          If you want answers then it is best not to name providers as we all know who we are all talking about in our posts. The answers to your questions are'
          1. yes.
          2. The free S*y channels.
          3. If you subscribe to S*y then you can insert your card in yoiur dreambox and recive the channels on your box. If you do not subscribe then you need to Google Bulld0gs response.

              if i decided to get a box and it's not what i thought it was going to be could i just get a freesat card for it so I've at least not just chucked money away

                  I only moved over to linux stb's a few months back ... and have not looked back since.

                  There is plenty of info both on here and google. do some research read a bit and then decide if its for you.

                  You can not waist your money with these boxes ... they can just do so much.

                      very easy to do, just research it on google and as manxspud has said, you'll never look back.
                      I did however need to input my boxkey to get sky card working on my dm800

                          hi just got a linux box but the guy deleted tuxbox commander how would i get it back on the system,just new to this sorry for being stupid

                                  You will Just be missing out on Fiver, Five USA, and other Free to View Channels that require a card to open.

                                  By buying a Dreambox this will not automatically open Sky Subscription Channels, Sky is not Hacked if incase your under the illusion it is.

                                      Best thing to do is read up on the subject. before i bought 1 ... i spent a full 2 weeks reading on what these boxes are and what you can do with them and what you can not.

                                          ok ive got the box and of course having some trouble setting the thing up.

                                          Im just trying to get the FTA channels for now and here is whre i am at.

                                          flashed it with Darkstar2_DM500.img

                                          im choosing no diceqc, astra/eurobird 28 then i got into scan but then nothing the box must be reseting itself because the TV changes souace to standed TV

                                          in tran scan there are red X's for everything and im gussing they should't be there

                                              Make sure you save your changes when you enter them and have you ut your lat and long settings in.
