do you know if the radio times will do all channels? Has anyone worked out how many channels you can store epg for without it running out of space?

200 channels for 2 days is around 4 Meg.

You can also get the box to load EPG when in standby by using the enigma_enter_standby.sh and enigma_leave_standby.sh to run (and stop) the EPG script.

Gave this a go today and it works brilliantly.Far better than running off a mounted drive.Zero sluggishness and no lock ups .

RT downloads since the beginning of December have been virtually 100% reliable, 7 days a week. They seem to update their library of .dat files at 07:45 each day now.

When downloading to your server mount via a daily cron job (like I do, for 8 days EPG), it's fairly easy to tweak the rt_uk.sh script to ignore any single line / 309 byte dat files (ie: files which contain no data, only the text header) and even 0 byte files (usually due to a connection glitch), so as not to rubbish the existing files downloaded yesterday.

Bear in mind that Auntie's files hold 14 days EPG, so a day or two of missed data is not a problem. To see which channels RT EPG covers, just view the /var/tuxbox/config/dbepg/channels.dat file, which is renewed at each download.

My own experience shows that reading of EPG (not to mention Infobar Picons) is in fact visibily much FASTER from a server mount than when these files are stored locally on the box. As well as allowing more days EPG and tons more picons, LOL!

          Cheers- AL

Thank you very much. I have an EPG set-up for 3 days for all my entertainment + movie channels. Looking forward to telling my mates now! Fair play guys!

Not sure what sort of info you're after, m8? Do you need help getting a Mount set up to a shared folder on your Linux or Windoze PC, or do you already have a mount, and want to know how to optimize RT-EPG to use it?

                Attn all OpenPLi RT-EPG users!!

Please make a backup of your rt_uk_channels.dat map file, which lives in /ar/tuxbox/config/dbepg/

Now go to the Blue button 'Remove Software' and remove SQLite 1.2

Then go to the Downloads section and 'Download latest software menu'

Then in 'Instal Software >> Plugins' install SQLite 1.3

Your existing map file should be preserved (the backup was just in case)

1.3 is the latest LraiZer-designed RT-EPG setup, and is light years ahead of the OpenPli 1.2 original. I've also attached an 'Options' pack for this, showing various ways of auto-loading RT-EPG. There's a sample London area mapfile in there too.

Do read the readme files, please!!! I've also attached the Upgrade package for expert users to manually install if desired.

                Cheers- AL

Sorry, should have provided more info. I've been trying to download the rt epg via the browser on the hip hop channel to my dm 7025, but it just hangs or 'sw error' so I will have to try installing manually.
Ok, read your reply again and you're talking about running the epg from a pc, right, I want it on the box or online if thats possible, please excuse my 'noob' ignorance!

On the box is default, with the epg dbase file in the /tmp folder. It can't be run from an online host. 2 days Epg for about 150 mapped channels will take about 3.5MB and is safe. Push it to 3 days, and you'll exceed the recommended 5MB limit, so will see dire warnings in the logfile. 3 Days and 100 channels would be cool.

The advantage with using a mount is that size doesn't matter, so 8 Days / 150 channels is eazy peazy.

                    Cheers- AL

Is there any way i can get this?

(using PLI JADE 3 i think)

Forgive my stupidity but do i do this by doing a Software Update?

If so, which update do i choose?

I think the most recent is: PLI JADE3 20090627
