Dreambox 500s Clone image that can provide decent EPG

doing that and when i type in username thats fine, then when it asks for password nothing will type on that line then when i hit return i can type dreambox under the ask for password part but then when i hit return it will say that log in details are incorrect yet i know that my log in details are root and dreambox

Logon should work just make to use lower case, presuming as you say you have not changed anything and are within the correct IP subnet of your network. Is your IP staic on the DM500 or are you using DHCP?

really to flash a D500S you need Null Modem cable.. they only cost pennies

I agree OPs for any image change, but have used this method time and time again as a lazy way . Saves time but you will still need to use DreamUp if you ~~~~ up, so always best to have a null modem cable at hand.

got commando on my box now just having a look about for the plug in downloads. noticed that alot of the buttons are different. such as the volume buttons are changing the channels.

Can i set up the remote settings and were are plug ins?

Yes the set up is different but you can change around some user defined buttons best to ask in their specific image thread.

for some reason commando has changed my username and password and i cannot find any part in settings to view.

ive got the commando image now but trying to flash back to the jade3 as im not to keen on the commando seems like to much work not saying its a bad image just not for me yet.

But my problem is both fw pro and telnet both say the username and password are incorrect. yet i am using root and dreambox.

next year i was planning on buying a 8000hd either original or clone. but makes me think is it worthwhile if there no decent EPG database out there.

Turn off the box for a minute or so and try again, I presume you named the back up, backup.img.

If it does not flash after that then its time for a null modem cable and dreamup.

Dreamup is the only way to sort it, so you will need to get the null modem cable. Waiting for Ops to say told you so

Joking aside if you are messing about with the box it is always handy to have one to hand.

these boxes are used mostly for free tv..

do you really need an EPG..?? use the internet to find out what is on, or bite the bullet and get a sky box and subscription
