DM500s Hell Aborted by User upload

Hi Guys,

I have read through the forum with regards to this issue that I am having with my DM500s box and tried everthing suggested still to no avail.

I am trying to reflash my DM500s which was using a PLIjade image working fine until last week the box froze, so I decided to reflash it.
When trying to reflash I get the same error over and over again with the following:

PLIjade image
NabiloSat Max Var image

and I keep getting aborted by user about 10% of the way through.

I tried to Flash erase and get the same error. Although when I leave the box for about 30Mins and then try to flash erase the erase does work.
But the flasing of the image does not work at all keeps aborting no matter which version of dreamup I use.

PC Setup:

I am on win xp which was used to flash the same box many times before without any issues.
Tried changing to a different PC same problem. Tried changing the Null Cable still the same problem.

Versions of Dreamup used:

2.1.8A
1.3.2.1
1.2.2.0
1.3.2.1
1.3.3.0
1.3.3.1
1.3.3.4
1.3.3.5
1.3.3.6

All of them so far no Joy. The box always responds when serial and power are plugged in. But just unable to complete flash.

Any help on this would be really appreciated.

Try flashing this erase image first and then retrying the pli image.

thanks for that mate, did try the erase file before but forgot to mention it.
Tried it again same problem aborted by user!

tried the DreamUp version attached as well same problem.
Flash Erase Works but same with image aborted.

15:06:08 Ping result: OK, box is alive and speaking to us ;-)
15:06:14 erasing complete flash (without bmon stage of course)...
15:06:55 OK, flash erased
15:07:04 Uploading file to box...
15:07:15 ERROR , upload aborted!

cant think of what else it could be?

Wot OP system you useing
Is it a 232 cable your using or adaptor
Try a diff PC

I thought PLI updated it self from the menus, assuming it does boot that is.

Thanks for all the replies, appreciate it.

OS - Windows XP SP3, also tried Windows XP SP2
Using Null Modem straight to COM1 on two different PC's
Also tried using Null Modem with Prolific USB on a Laptop. Same results on all 3 machines.
I can flash erase on all 3 machines but cannot upload any image to the box without the dreaded Abort message.
Any other ideas before i throw this in the snow! !

hi, i reflashed a box b4 and got similiar problem to your.. same error came up all right.. now before i try to reflash it. i had noticed in setup menu. under service organising, service searching was missing. so i guess my problem was tuner... anyway i binned the box. but it looks to be a common problem now, clones again ?

Have you tried a different null modem cable ? . Its worth a try , it happend to me and this turned out to be the reason.

maybe try telnet? can you connect to the box over ethernet?

Try with a known good Null Modem cable andf DreamUp 1.3.3.4, this is the last version which works with clone boxes, I found any later versions had this issue "aborted by user" I recently built a new PC with Windows 7 ultimate x64 and while downloading different versions of dreamup I had this issue.

Works fine though with Dreamup 1.3.3.4. There is also a patched version dreamup which is reported to work.
