Dreamup Flash

Can Someone tell me how much time it takes to bringup dreambox using dreamup... I am trying to follwo the instruction:

Required

• Null Modem Cable (this is NOT the same as a serial or rs232 cable, although it looks the same)
  
• Image File (.img)
• DreamUp Program
  

Instructions

• Disconnect all cables from your dreambox, including the power
• Connect the null modem cable to the dreambox and to your PC
• Load Dreamup.exe
• Click Connect and you will see a message like this

• Connect the power and the bootloader should be copied to the box

After above step nothing comming, I left it like that for 1/2 hour, does it take more time?

Note: I am using USB to RS232 with Db9 Gender changer as I dont have PC with Null port.


Any comments or suggestion welcome !!!!!!

are you using vista or win7..?? If so the drivers for the USB to RS232 may not work.. Also do you deffo have a Null Modem cable and not a RS232..??

I am able to find a null modem port PC with win XP OS and will try to flash it.....thanks

Could depend on what dreambox model you have i.e the dm800 clones need a patched Dreamup.

Hey Curious.. its a genuine DM500s.. but won't load on dreamup or even hyperterminal i get the booting kernal and it just freezes'
(sorry if im hijacking the thread)

I was able to flash it but don't know why I am not able to see any channel, its shows channels detail with 95% signal strength but no picture, I checked internet even I am able t oFTP/TELNEt the box even can see thechannel list in WEBIFF but no picture on any channel...some help/comments.

this will tell you if ur server is down as owenb says

did my dm500s last night, took 7 minutes and 37 seconds exactly

but seriously, shouldnt take more than 15 minutes

Hi OWENB: As initially as I said I paid $$$ for both boxes so last night I took the box to the shop and shopowner did some changes to SF and reconfigured the dish param and was able to watch some channels at his shop but when I treid at home it gave me same problem i.e. signal but no picture. Looks that server down possibility is less chance as it was working at the shop. What else can be the cause?

Problem solved...it was dish issued some what due to high wind it got moved a little.
