usb dvb t tuner

reading around the web about these usb t tuner does any one know will work in ireland and what on would work with a dreambox dm 800 any advice would be great thanks guys

Probably a silly question about this dvb-t dongle but do you just connect it to your DM800 and watch tv that way, do you know if that would work on other boxes, Openbox S9, Dreambox 500s for example, as I dont think my telly has a usb port, sorry for the questions but I'm not very technically minded.

Only works with dm800.
Plug it into usb port and load drivers via blue button (dream elite image).
You now have a 2nd tuner in system settings, run a scan and channels get added to existing satellite lists under "Terrestrial"

Mpeg is essentially a compression algorithm ,its decoded in software not hardware .
The Dm800 handles the decoding not the usb tuner .
As long as its a DVB-t tuner it will work.

Hi guys,
Just received the above mentioned tuner, have to say works pretty well, hooked it up to the dm800, downloaded the drivers done a scan and brought in all the Irish channels.
The only snag I have is when I unplug the box and plug it in again the tuner loses connection and I have to unplug tuner and plug it in again and reactivate it in tuner panel.
Don't like to leave the box in standby at night due to heat issues.
@ Fano, is there a fix for this or some kind of work around.

probably same as the usb dongles need time to start up to work,not to sure if a usb would work to keep dongle active

Havent encountered that issue myself ,the tuner is always detected just fine on my 800s.

Finally got it sorted, Manually installed the drivers from the free dreambox images site, everything working sweet and no more ear bashing from the missus.

It seems to be the same as yours. I have a clone DM 800 on Enigma 2 and would like to use it as a 2nd tuner so I can record one program while watching another.

Would you be able to post the LINUX drivers for this?

You will find the drivers in Drivers-extra.
Download ItalysatDTT-Downloader-Dreambox.
The drivers you are looking for are,
AverMedia Volar Black HD - AF9015:05/05/2011.
