Until a dispute is escalated to a claim PayPal will not get involved, this is why for me I cannot escalate dispute until Tuesday 19th April to allow for late delivery etc.
We do not know how many others filed for PayPal protection so far this enables funds to be locked in his account, not allowing withdrawal until claim is settled,i.e my ?99.99 will be shown as a minus figure to him.
PayPal have taken direct debit payment out of my bank account today.
He still has option of sending out item with any courier or Royal Mail Special Delivery which he can show to PayPal item delivered if ever sent.
He knows my claim is legit & has option anytime to refund the money & not to wait 20+ days if he knows he cannot supply the item at price paid.
He also has option to email me tellling me of any delays he encountered,i.e bad weather in Guandong Province or Kowloon, customs siezure for duty unpaid (VAT).
He should make sure he had items in hand before deciding to sell so many.
He also has option to come to any forum board & state goodwill to supply items to all.
Not wanting to sound negative or anything but!

I hope you realise that by paying via a DD from your current account your level of protection has now been reduced to what Paypal decide to to do and what they decide they can get back.

I posted this earlier in this thread and I'll post it again, with ebay and paypal always use a credit card, not a debit card but a credit card to pay as if Paypal shrug their shoulders then you've got the extra protection that the credit card offers.

PayPal protection is only activated if claim arises,i.e when issue is rised by buyer (non delivery, item being removed by Ebay, sellers account suspended or being closed),other may have paid via bank transfer, postal order, cheque

As I understand it credit cards will only pay if the item is over ?100 pounds, not multiple items. The price for the box was just below ?100.

I think you're talking about consumer protection not fraud protection. So to get consumer protection the item would need to be over ?100.

If you paid through paypal, it doesn't matter whether you ultimately paid with a debit or credit card. You are still covered by the same buyer protection promise. Yes, credit cards offer an EXTRA level of protection as your credit card company will refund any money lost through fraud, however it shouldn't be necessary to resort to your CC company's fraud protection as paypal offer a similar protection for purchases through them.

If that is true then maybe they've changed their stance/policy but previously as far as I know if there are no funds in the fraudulent account then you'd get nothing back.
