I'm pretty sure Jacob Proctor and Jacob DaCosta are the same person. Apart from looking alike and coming from Birmingham, Jacob Proctor's friends on MySpace are all Jacob DaCosta's friends on Facebook.

He 'could' have been setup, but scamming someone using Paypal is not a smart thing to do. There's a reason all the other scammers use 'Western Union'. The paypal email address was Jake Proctor. The person with access to the PayPal account needs to have access to this email address. Changing paypal bank accounts is not so straight-forward either. Everything on PayPal is traceable. So what can we do? Well we can:

1) Pursue a claim through PayPal/eBay
2) Contact the Police and let them do the police work
3) Set up facebook accounts and let his friends/family know what a scumbag he is.
4) Post his details everywhere you think might cause him some hassle.

Contacting the police and paypal is at least the sensible thing to do. If he got hacked, then fair enough, but the police will determine that (if they decide to look into it all, which is doubtful).

I don't think anyone here is gonna go all charles bronson and start beating people up over a ?99 satellite box.

If it is him that's scamming then he's obviously retarded.

Best course of action IMO would be to let paypal deal with it and probably contact police as well.

I'm by no means greedy, I just haven't got much money. It may have been naieve to think a ?99 DM800 was genuine, but It's not unreasonable to take a chance on what could have been a great deal also.

I'm glad you're happy that we got scammed. Maybe we could all post stories of other losses for your satisfaction?

Im in the same boat i bought 3 shit happens.
I will get my money back through Paypal yet i knew there was a good chance it was a scam.
Was gonna put 2 fingers up to everyone when they turned up but ive lost nothing and will get my money back im condident of that.
Just be positive and keep the thread alive.
