connect to network using dcc for dm800hd

shite! i do all that for fun and still had to sort out my own dm!

1 , i told you to jib the crossover cable , but you insist on using it , why ,
2 , you could have got your dm i-p by following the instructions i posted , but you now decide its time to start a fresh , why
3 , you have 2 pages of helpful responses by strangers who have given there time to help you , but you dont listen , why ?
Conclusion !
1. sell your dreambox as you cant use it and not willing to listen to advice ,
or
2. Turn on your webcam , press record , go make a paper hat with a "D" on it , wear it , stand in corner of room with fingers on lips , webcam must record you for 1 hour ,
upload recording to youtube for my amusement , and i may give you some more helpful advice !!!
If you film yourself with the hat and fingers on lips and a dildo sticking out your arse , i may even help you sort your dreambox !!!

southpaw i have done everthing people have suggested includinig yours i tried doing it your way ditching the crossover cable but when i turn off box it does not give me a ip address so i can not continiu with your instructions. i will happily do a webcam if you stick the dildo up my arse.

Have you actually gone into the menu and chose network and looked at the details in network?
If your not prepared to listen to advice how on earth do you think you will get it sorted.
Theres a good patience bunch on here trying to help you and others in the same boat so try and follow any advice.

look m8 connect your ethernet cable to your DM , and to your router, 2 ways of doing this 1/ look at your router see what port your cable from DM to router is plugged in on the router, Then look at the front of the router and see if you have green light on the said port.
2nd/ reboot DM then go to setup/system/ network : now under network goto network test click ok look at the test and see if all tick in green ? if so your network is ok , if not tell us which one does not tick green , simples

this is how i done it on my first attempt with dm800

2. make sure box powerlead is unplugged. hold the power button down and at the same time insert the power cable to the box.

YOU WILL GET AN IP ADDRESS DISPLAYED ON THE SCREEN OF THE BOX

3. press the power button and let the box boot up.

now i assume your laptop or pc is connected to your router!!!

4. open flashxp up.

5. attemp to connect to the box by using the ip address you got from the box earlier and the username will be root and password will be dreambox.

you will see flashxp has connected to the box.

do what you have to.

job done.

no need for dildos or anything else

i assure you mate this way does work. i just got myself a dm800 and done this and it worked.

You keep getting a different ip cos Dhcp is enabled in the network setting of the Dreambox,

If you can connect box with Dreamup then you should be able to flash a new image with null modem cable.

Have you actually looked in the menu of the Dreambox? Select system then network and post back what you get.

Turn the box off at the mains, unplug it. Plug it back in and hold the power button in and switch on the box whilst keeping the power button held in. When the box bootsnup it wil give you the ipadress you need to flash it via browser.

hi guys finally got this up and running thanks to everyone that helped. but the picture keeps freezing and breaking up every other second is that somthing i could of done setting it up or is it the other end. my internet is connected strait to box, 20meg line and new pro tuner. cheers kevin

Can you tell us how you set it up for others who may have similar problems.

Are FTA working fine like BBC1? is it premium channels your talking about?
This will be your server which we cant talk about here on DK.

the box and my pc were not playing ball on this one. to ftp i had to go to pc open dcc and get pc ip address 82.39.149.121
then back to dm box disable dhcp add ip 82.39.149.122 netmask 255.255.255..0 gatway 82.39.149.1 then back to dcc press connect would connect then disconnect and give a new pc ip address.
so do it all again with new ip 169.254.103.124 and it stays connected do the stuff needed to. then back to box turn dhcp back on press ok then network test. i dont no why it wont give ip the way every body told me to. ps ip are just for show just make sure your box ip last number is 1 number higher then pc ip and gatway is 1 number like the ones above. i am sure the will be some one how can word that a bit better.
