Could any of these cause problems

Im just about to set up my DM800 by installing a new Motherboard.
My last one got fried. The thing is I don't want to make the same mistake so I'm trying to understand what caused my last board to die. Whatever the cause I believe the damage occurred to the power connector which was a bit darkish on the underneath of the board and the black plastic where the power cable is inserted had slightly melted. My box is a clone and I've included some pics.

Here are some of the things I did prior to it crashing.

    • I was trying out a variety of new images and because of this I had to turn the box on and off. I did this numerous times. I did it by taking out and reinserting the power lead.
    • I put a very very small bit of vaseline in the centre of the noisy fan. I know others do this and previously I have used WD40.
    • I added a plugin which did not install correctly. It was an auto-timeshift plugin called permanenttimeshift. This gave me an error when I would enter the plugins menu. My thinking is that this would somehow call on the HDD to spin up and cause the cpu and board to overheat. The box was very hot.
One symptom before the crash was that channels kept saying Signal not found could this be the Tuner?

Has anyone got any thoughts on this?

looks like your adapter was either wrong voltage or reversed polarity some how and fried the legs on input adapter plug

adapter should be +12volt 3 amp

        Thats interesting.

The power adapter is the same one that I've always used. its 12v 3amp, the box was working perfectly for about 8 months.

As I was trying new images, they did not recognise my backup on the HDD so I did a few scans for channels.

Could I have caused this problem as I tampered with some settings in Tuner config?

Before I power up. Do you think the tuner is ok and safe to use?

I doubt very much settings caused your issue , as above I would look to the p s u , if you still got it put a meter to it and test output . Just because it worked for 8 month don't mean it's not faulty

Even if one of those settings was related to voltage?

Cant be sure but I seem to remember altering something like this in one of the configs.
